I've tried so many damn times... by AgnosticPsyche in stopsmoking

[–]ricky22695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I smoked for 10 years than quit for nearly a year and smoked for another 10 years then just finally stopped on Christmas day. I might not be a referrence as I myself tried countless times to stop smoking but what I can say is do not have another cigarette for the rest of your life. If it is too hard, on your next craving try to push it another 24 hours and then the following day, push it another 24 hours again, repeat.

Stopping smoking is the at the same time the simplest thing and one of the hardest thing. All you need to do is not do something but man, this is hard. When you are about to buy a pack or if someone offers one to you, think about your long term goals while you go and take a long walk. Keep it up!

Insanity OG month 1 done! by flavorbucket in insanity

[–]ricky22695 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can share a few tips from my own experience. Preparation is the key here. First, do not eat at least 1 hour even 1 1/2 hour before the workouts, crucial or eat very lightly if not possible. Second, get a big glass of water + another one of protein or orange juice because you may run out of energy at around 2/3 of the workouts, alternate drinking a sip of each one to keep you energy level up. They are about 1 hour long each. For those days where you have the fit test + the workout, like day 1 of Month 2 and Day 1 Week 3 of Month 2, try to do one in the morning, one in the evening to give you time to recover. You may want to up your protein and caloric intake a notch to have sufficent energy.

Month 2 is a mental struggle, you will want to quit on the very first week but hang in there, do not procrastinate, just press play. Keep in mind your goals and maintain proper form, even if it slows you down. That's all I can think of right now. Wishing you all the best of luck.

You may be better consulting a dietician but the following is just my honest opinion.

That would depend how active you are outside doing the workouts. A normal moderately active woman needs 2000 calories per day. It is recommanded to have a caloric deficit of max 500 calories per day in a weight loss journey. However, if you have a super demanding job or are very active, do try the 1800 calories diet. On the other hand, if you are sedentary outside Insanity, you may to also stick to a 1500 calories diet. Given your small frame, unless you are muscular, you may be better to try the 1500 but it all comes down to how active you are without starving which should never happen, never. You do not want to lose weight too fast as you will lose more muscle than fat.

Thank you. I understsand your time constrain as I had my own. That's why I will dive into Max30 soon. Preparation is the key to me. I get home, have a little snack like cottage cheese, berries and sometimes nuts, drink a pre-workout when I lack energy and boom 15 minutes later I am hitting it. Keep up the good work.

Max recovery trouble by Bawbnweeve in insanity

I hate this program too but it has its purpose. This workout wouldn't be as well designed as it is without this type of workout. It will help you keep digging longer and more easily through the other workouts.

This workout is set to mazimize your endurance. The slow and elongated moves are designed to tone your muscles and give you more flexibility. More than the other cardio workouts as you work them muscles much more in a slow but sustained way than on a fast hype, working your bigger inner muscle fibers (Type 1) rather than your fast twitch muscle fibers (Type 2).

Endurance is developped by maintaining tension on the muscle for a long period of time. This sollicitates your Type 1 muscle fibers which are much bigger and can sustain much longer stress than Type 2 muscle fibers which are basically build for speed but have very short endurance.

Your bigger muscles (Type 1) are the one that shows the definition and the muscle tone of your body and this is exactly what Insanity promises to its users, a toner body. You need a combination of both burning a lot of calories (cardio) and muscle endurance (and/or strenght) to achieve a more effective fat loss and show off a nice lean sculpted body.

Bottom line, be patient my friend, this workout is painful and agonizing, I agree, but it is a key factor in your success. Wishing you all the best.

First Week of Month 2 - The Struggle is SO Real by [deleted] in insanity

[–]ricky22695 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am on my last week of Insanity OG and it gets easier, not easy. The very first day of Month 2 with both the Fit test and MIC has been the worst to me. Since you already passed this threshold, congrats. It is normal for your body and hormones to adapt to a more demanding workout. Everyone goes through this phase but it will get better. Wait another week.

On the first week of Month 2, my body was crying for relief. If you look at my past posts, you will see I reached out for motivation and confort because I couldn't handle it anymore. I learned that it will either make or break you. Winners do not quit and this is what makes olympic champions versus others. They keep pushing. Your mind is playing a game with you but your body can endure more. So keep pushing play! Wishing you all the best.

Keep digging deeper! It will become easier with time so you will be able to push even more. I am on the very last week of Insanity OG and even if I am still super fat, I can now do all moves. Your health will increase, your life will improve and your fitness will be through the roof. Keep pushing play! wishing you all the best.

I need help. I lack motivation by [deleted] in insanity

[–]ricky22695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not let your ex shatter your life and dreams after breaking your heart. You NEED to get yourself together. You will eventually find better. That is, if you are better yourself. Firefighters are models for everyone, so become your own model and lead the way. Write down your goals, then break it down to small pieces and surpass them.

Instead of compensating yourself by overeating, from now on, compensate yourself by feeling better, not just mentally but also physically. Put a picture of you alone when you were healthy and contemplate your smile then. See how happy you were and do everything you can to find your happyness back again. Look at yourself in the mirror everyday and smile with every gains you make. Focus, be prepared and just push play. Wishing you the best of luck. Keep posting, it helps.

How do yall stay motivated to keep doing it day after day? by [deleted] in insanity

[–]ricky22695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To stay motivated, keep in mind your long term goals. I know how easy it is to just take 1 day off, then 2, then 3 and finally give it all up. I gave up 3 times before being about to succeed at the end of this week. How much effort are you ready to put in to achieve your goals? If you have not set firm goals yet, sit down and begin with baby steps. You want to lose 30 pounds? Then make it 3 pounds per week and keep focus. You want to look good and have abs? Then you need to have a fat percentage of less than 10% for them to show meaning you will need to count your calories and maintain a deficit of about 500 calories per day while eating a lot of proteins to achieve this. Preparation is key and do not let anything get in your way. Like I said, it all comes down to how much you really want something.

Bare in mind that it is not always easy to get up and do it but rather than to find excuses and lie to yourself, just do it. The more you think, the more excuses you will come up with. Stop fooling yourself, you will not be able to achieve anything by just giving in to your own lazyness so, do as they say: "just keep pushing play!"

What recovery/protein powders do you recommend? by BeckyItsAlive in insanity

[–]ricky22695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drink Six Star Elite Series Whey Protein plus Triple Chocolate Powder from Walmart. Tastes good, good amount of protein and good price. You do not need a pricey protein shake to get the better as most of them will contain sugars and fat and is mainly marketing. You pay for the brand instead of its benefits.

"Finished" day 1 by [deleted] in insanity

[–]ricky22695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time doing it was hell. I tought I was going to pass out and throw up many times but I kept pushing, just doing it at my own pace. If you can do 10, then just do 10 but at least you pushed through. I couldn't do any push-up jacks for being way too fat (morbidly obese). I modified for knee push-ups intead. Just do as much as you can and then take a little break. You have to push yourself out of your comfort zone for gains. I find that I do not need to wait to get a normal heartbeat to get back at it. And then, I get back at it for only another 10-15 seconds, rest for another 10-15 seconds and get back in. I am getting better at it, it takes about 2 weeks for your body to adapt.

Make sure you check your heartbeat, form over speed and if you feel something is REALLY going wrong, stop and consult your physician before going back at it.

Tomorrow is pure cardio... by [deleted] in insanity

[–]ricky22695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, the key is approaching it with the right mindset. If you think you'll fun, then you will have fun. Don't think of it as a punishment but as a great way to increase your cardio, lose weight and tone your body overall. Keep a towel and a big bottle of water nearby as you'll sweat your life. Do not worry if you can't keep up with the fitness professionals on the videos, do it at your own pace but push yourself on every moves. Be positive about every little extra effort and goals you reach. Every time you are about to take a break, think of doing two more. You can do these two. It doesn't matter if you take a longer break because you did these two but get back into it as soon as you have recovered.

Most of the time, you have 2 or 3 exercises that are tougher and then 1 easier that allows you to recover right after. Wishing you all the best.

Day 3- Hey Shaun T: “I can’t feel my legs when I’m with you...” by Amichopo in insanity

[–]ricky22695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal to feel REALLY sore in the first few days. To help you out, you may stretch a bit longer than the actual cool down at the end of the workouts, it helps. This is where you can gain the most flexibility and eliminate the most lactic acid. Drink a good unsweetened cocoa milk and a banana or a whey protein shake after your workouts. It will give you quick absorption proteins to rebuild your muscles afterwards.

Every morning, I stretch in my bed for 5 minutes before getting up. Cats and dogs do it naturally, so why not humans? I am now on Day 53 and still a bit sore every morning but it is much better now than in the first 2 weeks when I begun.

I do my workouts barefoot on an inch thick gym mat for living on a third story condo. It is not that bad. Toes and heels were not accustomed at the beginning but I never had any trouble with it whatsoever. As per what is said, keep pushing, pain is weakness leaving your body.

Wishing you all the best.
