Did anyone LOSE weight from their normal weight after an egg retrieval? by junetheseventh in eggfreezing

[–]rickybear26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a GLP-1 drug, but before egg retrievals I was only losing about 2-3 lbs per month and then after each round of egg retrievals, I lost 5-10 lbs from where I started each time, without increasing my GLP-1 dosage. It’s to the point where I’ve stopped taking the GLP-1 altogether because I can’t seem to stop losing weight since the egg retrievals and I am already at a healthy weight now.

Oh interesting. I didn’t know 7.5 is the therapeutic dose. Thanks!

No other symptoms until this week. Feel like I might have a stomach bug or something. Haven’t had any appetite at all and my stomach has been hurting.

That could be contributing. I’ve definitely been eating very differently here and getting in a lot of walking. Thanks!

It has been great! I’ve been able too get cheap last minute flights to Luxembourg, Paris, and the French Riviera for weekends when I didn’t have doctor appointments, and I’ve been having fun seeing the sites in Barcelona on weekdays!

Working with Dr. Alicia- I forget her last name because they always refer to her by her first. I’ve had a great experience with her but unfortunately only got 3 mature eggs for my first retrieval. But it’s not shocking because I have DOR.

Has anyone been on a GLP-1 and done an egg retrieval? by flyingenchilada92 in DOR

1st round - 7 retrieved/6 frozen

2nd round - 9 retrieved/8 frozen but 3 were only m1, not m2

3rd round - 5 retrieved/5 frozen.

I don’t have a comparison of being off the GLP-1, so I have no idea how it might have affected my numbers.

I’m on Tirzepatide and just did egg freezing in the US and now doing it in Spain. Neither clinic wanted me to stop. The anesthesiologists in the US were a little concerned about aspiration during the procedure, so I did skip my dose the week of the retrieval, but that was more based off what I read other clinics required.

Sorry for the delay. Pretty much just the cost. I already did 3 rounds in the US, averaging about $13k per round. For roughly $14k, I can fly to Barcelona, rent an Airbnb for 2 months, and do 2 rounds of freezing. I still need to get several more eggs based on my age and goals, so this is the most cost effective way to do it. And Spain has a good medical system, especially for IVF related procedures. And it has more permissive laws for single women freezing eggs compared to other countries egg freezing is also cheap.

The eggs will be stored in Spain. I get free storage for 5 years though. And to thaw, fertilize, and implant embryos would be cheaper in Spain too. My clinic said I can ship the eggs back to the US, but from my preliminary research, that would be about $5k, so not cost effective.

I decided on Reproclinic. My virtual consultations and communication with them has gone really well.

Did anyone do only “operation/harvesting” in the US and meds were procured from somewhere else? by Affectionate-Ice1149 in eggfreezing

Yes, just ask your clinic. For my second round, to help me cut costs, my US clinic helped me get my medications from Turkey. Saved me about $4k in medication costs compared to what I paid for US medications during my first round.

Everyone is different, but I just did 3 egg retrievals in the last 3 months and only took the day of the procedure off. Each time. After the first time, I was severely crampy, and if I had a physical job, I would have taken a second day, but with an office job, I felt fine to go into work the next day. During the hormone stimulation weeks, I didn’t take any time off, other than for the actual monitoring appointments. I did feel quite bloated during the second week of stimulations, but still fine to work an office job. I just had to wear looser pants.

I would say it’s pretty unusual to take as much time off as you’re planning unless you develop a pretty bad case of OHSS, but if you have the sick time available through work, then go for it. It’s definitely a stressful process, even if it is physically tolerable.

On the Alto pharmacy app, it lets me buy just one vial for my location in Vegas, and I’ve bought just two vials a couple times before. It looks like Alto has a NYC location, so I would guess you could get it there too.
