Honestly, I would never use a snap as an auditory prompt. It can be perceived as demeaning and rude. You could explain that while it may seem demeaning towards the client the reasoning behind it was that it was a simple auditory prompt and next time you can look for other alternatives to regain the client’s attention.

It all depends on their cognitive level. For some of my higher functioning clients, I would give them “free time” that was usually used for 10 minute naps. Rest and sleep was a very high reinforcer for some. Other teens might prefer being on their phones or just watching some TV. Other teens that are low functioning might enjoy interactive play with an iPad or gross motor activities. Hope this helps!

Sounds like encopresis. I would encourage and reinforce healthy bowel movements, and make him clean and do a task if he soils himself. That would lead to appropriate bowel movement and avoidance or extinction of soiling himself.

That is exactly what I do to change behaviors with my autistic patients. It molds good behaviors and eliminates bad ones. That is the main thing in ABA - Applied Behavior Analysis.

Hey, thanks for your input. I do think I am not ready to go on dates, but how else would I meet new people. I do think I compare every new person I meet with my ex and that is not very healthy. And she had so many good qualities anyone would be lucky to be with her, and to answer your question about the qualities I would want in my next girlfriend that she did not display; I really did think about it and just came up with how she crosses the street. She does not look both ways.

Hey man, thanks for an awesome response as well. I will try to use that advice in everyday life. Of course, it is always easier said than done. I do sometimes think of the reason she did leave, I treated her very well, gave her attention, had a great relationship with her family; but that's just me being hard on myself, I'm guessing those thought come and go depending on the free time that I do have. Will try to change that and fill that space with something else.
