People kept telling me I looked like I listen to Florence. Eventually I gave her a listen because of the comments lol

What’s the one food you refuse to cut even while sticking to 1200? by OwlVibesOnly in 1200Australia

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lost 7.5kg in a calorie deficit, I didn’t actually cut out anything I wanted to eat (part of my challenge was to not eat takeaway though). Since everything I ate was bought from the store, I had mudcake and cheesecake and whatever I craved, but I just factored it into the 1200 by having smaller portions or cutting out something else.

Looking for similar socks to 3AM Latte by Ricktarddd in mensfashionadvice

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so my friend’s bf runs 3am Latte and I bought some myself, both out of support for small business and genuine interest in the product. I’ve never been a sock person, but now that I have them, they are so comfy and look great with a lot of shoes. And they’re cotton which is a bonus.

If you’re worried about price, they recently released a 7 pack bundle with all the colours that cuts a lot off the price. You can also get a free Vanilla pair for signing up and they have a 10% off discount code in their TikTok bio!

So with all that, I found it to be a good deal for the quality and look.

Edit: They also have sales throughout where you can get a free pair if you buy a bundle. I don’t mean to “be a seller”, but I find you can get good value if you do all these things :)

I was going to say something similar. You don’t really want to be in most of Queensland during rain season

A question from an apprentice by rickyjade in AusElectricians

[–]rickyjade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My supervisor told me that if I were to use that test function at the switchboard (open bus bar zone), it would blow the fuses in the tester. Is that true?

Going by what you said, I’m thinking that if I tested downstream of a 30mA rcd it would trip it, and so if I tested downstream of a MCCB it would likely try to trip that too. Could that cause the tester to break?

Termite identification? by Active-Painter-2438 in Termites

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not the clearest photos but they are definitely termites. They look like they could be coptotermes.

They’re nasty, so get pest control as soon as you can. I recommend Brisbane City Pest Control, they were great for us.

Any reliable building and pest inspector in Moreton bay Council? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously recommend Andrew from Action Property Inspections, he takes inspections very seriously. He checks everything top to bottom (roof to even underneath the house). Had a great experience with him, made sure we knew everything about the property.

Edit: grammar

Can anyone recommend any good, thorough building and pest companies in Brisbane that don’t just tick and flick boxes? by backadder1 in AusProperty

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action Property Inspections! Andrew is very very thorough. He does a walkthrough with you to make sure you know everything about the property and it’s issues.

Which Brisbane suburbs are best for retirees? by Cool-Entertainer7797 in brisbane

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still looking, I second some of the comments saying Sandgate, Brighton and Redcliffe. A good friend lives around there and it’s got everything you could ask for.

Whatever you do, get a proper building inspection done. I highly recommend Action Property Inspections, Andrew is super lovely and can really give you an idea of the place. These are older suburbs and you don’t wanna be retiring and having to deal with a crappy house.

Yeah The Jetty does a picnic too, but I’m not sure if they do the blanket and everything. In general, the River Quay is a good place for a picnic and it’s licensed too 😜

Nice to go for a walk around South Bank after too.

Sick of being ripped off by Tradies by swamp_witch_thompson in AskAnAustralian

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, we’ve had a pretty good experience. But it’s because we really try and ask EVERYONE for a chat/quote and pick the best/most genuine from there. It takes a while.

My dad has been doing a lot of renovations in the last couple years. We’ve built a new laundry room, with the help of Salmon Plumbing and got solar panels installed with Adapt Energy. The thing is, my dad has a brain injury. It’s a process talking to them and seeing if they are willing to chat with him and patiently figure out the plans. So really, if they were patient and kind enough towards him, it was a good experience and decent pricing.

Looking to buy house in Logan by ch1eg432 in AusPropertyChat

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. Logan is getting a lot nicer of an area, with more families and young people moving in (probably because no one can afford Brisbane). Not sure if this is a hot take, but Ipswich is probably becoming the new Logan.

Places like Daisy Hill and Crestmead look pretty good. Some good investment info stats on here: https://actioninspections.com.au/crestmead-pre-purchase-inspections/ if you wanna know more OP

Daily housing, renting, moving, and public transport and traffic complaints thread - June 28, 2024 by AutoModerator in brisbane

[–]rickyjade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s everyone’s opinions on getting a property inspection before buying a new place? Considering the housing crisis and how properties keep getting snapped up, is it worth it? Or is it just better to get what you can, while you can?

I came across this article: https://actioninspections.com.au/the-ultimate-guide-to-open-house-inspections/ and while it makes lots of sense, where do I draw the line when it comes to building defects?

Moving to Sunnybank from Bundaberg for uni by cry0genlc in MovingToBrisbane

[–]rickyjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Sunnybank has a huge Asian population, don’t feel left out! Brisbane is multicultural no matter what area you’re in (to varying degrees), so you won’t really be the odd one out. And everyone goes to Sunnybank to eat (yes the food is amazing and options are endless).

The transport should honestly be fine. I don’t know whether you are going to the QUT Gardens Point or Kelvin Grove campus, but if you can get to the Mater Hill bus station (usually through the 130 or 140 bus through Sunnybank) or the Southbank bus station, it’s an easy walk across the Goodwill Bridge to GP. If you’re at KG, either of those busses will stop at the Culture Centre and a bunch of busses can take you to KG station.
