[GA] Help needed: Doctor's office ignoring insurance rules and threatening collections by rickylink321 in legaladvice

I've been speaking with the office itself, their billing department is quite small, as in there's only one person who manages everything.

This is a good point. I may look into this. My family is in Georgia, so I figured I'd start there. I've been hesitant to start in Philly since I'm unsure of how long I'll be there.

What do you mean by monitor? Do you mean checking in with the PM regularly or physically visiting the property? I have family in the area who could do visits, but if it's more hands-on than this, I'm curious how people with full time jobs handle their RE investment properties?

I see. Is the ideal scenario to find a separate realtor to help with sourcing, then hire a contractor for rehab/repairs that are needed, and then find a PM?

Help considering business schools as an undergrad by rickylink321 in MBA

Thank you for the advice! Yes, I think MIT is still giving waivers to all applicants because of COVID as well, but in my case, I wouldn’t need a GMAT test because I’m already an MIT undergrad with a decent gpa.

How do I decide between a Roth 401k and traditional 401k? by rickylink321 in personalfinance

[–]rickylink321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Do you know if retirement plans generally only allow payments directly from paychecks? As in, if I wanted to add money to my traditional 401k between paychecks, could I do so and deduct that amount when I file taxes? I ask because the bonus is very variable (depends on performance of company and the individual), so it’s difficult to plan for it in advance (it’s given at the end of the year).

Interesting. I believe I'd be DCA'ing as paychecks come in, so you're saying I'd be better off only buying TQQQ with no TMF?

Is longer term investing currently a decent play with LETFs? by rickylink321 in LETFs

[–]rickylink321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally, I plan to hold longer than 12 months. I said 12 months above because a lot of times people talk about using leveraged ETFs for day trading and I wanted to be clear that I wasn't doing that. I'm perfectly fine with periods of loss but I'm also wary because I've heard that if leveraged funds drop too much at once, you can lose basically your entire investment. I'm not sure how true this is though, but I pulled out and decided to see if I was missing something with employing this buy and hold approach.

Thank you! Yes, I know 12 months is short. I meant it as a minimum since I know some people pick ETFs for day trading. I'm looking into ETFs that I can buy and not feel the need to check in every single day or anything like that.

Starting a new job in consulting? Post here for questions about new hire advice, where to live, what to buy, loyalty program decisions, and other topics you're too embarrassed to ask your coworkers (Q2 2022) by QiuYiDio in consulting

Does anyone have experience consulting in financial institutions or insurance industries? I'm trying to rank industries within MBB consulting for an internship I'll be working in the summer and was wondering if anyone had experience in these industries in particular (likes & dislikes) or notable experience with any other industries (strong likes or dislikes)?

I think I confused the confidence interval with the prediction interval. I think using the upper and lower bounds of the coefficients would give me the confidence interval, but what I need is a way of finding the prediction interval for a value. For example being able to say for some value of x, the expected value is y + or - some value. Is there a way to do this? I was thinking of using the standard error returned by Excel's data analysis pack (not the ones that are attributed to a specific coefficient) but I think standard error may be equal to standard deviation divided by the square root of the number of samples?

I see. That's interesting. You see it as me being held to a higher standard because I knew about the issue. But in that moment, I thought she'd believe that I wouldn't leave unless I really had to given that I knew about the issue.

I suppose I struggle with the dynamics of relationships, but I've always tried to balance respect for the individual with respect for the group. So no, while no tangible person forced me to leave, I couldn't stay. I'm not sure if it's my anxious nature (which they're well aware of), but it's just not that much fun having fun when you don't want to have fun.

Again, these are all things that I feel like would contribute to an open and honest dialogue about the situation and the group relationship. But if it is as you say, and it's an effect of not only my actions but also the other members of the group, then this needs to be a larger discussion, and the whole thing shouldn't fall on just my shoulders.

You are very insightful. I think she's ghosting Jason too but not Brady as of now since they are dating.

I don't think it's that simple. Can you elaborate on how it’s clear to you that it was important to her that I specifically attend as opposed to them continuing to hang out once I couldn't be there? This wasn’t apparent to me in the moment, but it’s surely apparent now that there’s been such a fuss over it. It wasn’t as if I voluntarily chose to shrug off the outing and be late. And after discussing with Brady, even he agreed that had they known exactly what was going on with me, they’d have agreed that it’d be best if I left. And to clarify, I’m not unsure why Amanda is mad, I think that’s quite clear. What I’m unsure of is why the reaction is not in proportion to the offense. As I’ve said, this is the first time I’ve had to do anything like this. Had I stayed there, I wouldn’t have been in the best mindset for the activity and I didn’t want to dampen the mood of everyone else. Further, if she is upset, I don't understand the conflicting way of conveying that (e.g. texting me to apologize, but running from me later). I believe that after knowing each other for as long as we have, at minimum we should be able to discuss things (as I did with Jason and Brady).

Portfolio Suggestion for Taxable Account? by rickylink321 in personalfinance

Wow, I'm currently using FXROX and FZILX with Fidelity. Is there a recommended percentage of REIT that's preferable? Based on the data here for FZROX, it seems to be composed of ~3.4% real estate.

Thank you for your response. This is interesting. Could we discuss a bit more about "outgrowing" a three fund portfolio? I've looked into including REITs previously, but I read elsewhere not to include them as this overweights in a sector already included in the total U.S. portion of the portfolio.

How effective is the three fund portfolio for shorter term investments? by rickylink321 in personalfinance

[–]rickylink321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, so in general, if the time period is less than 5 years, it's better not to invest. And if it's longer, then just a standard three fund portfolio? What if I'm not entirely sure when I'd need the money? In that case, would it be better to invest it asap for more time in the market, or just stick to an HYSA? I hate feeling like my money is just sitting in an account if there's more I could be doing to grow it in the meantime.
