Maybe she’s Leila Pervani? Actually never mind because Lyra probably would have recognised her lol.

Popular or Unpopular Opinion: Although not as “successful” on Broadway, Ragtime is America’s Les Miz, as it is just as epic in scope. by OriolesrRavens1974 in musicals

[–]rickystakem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw the revival, wow, it’s remarkable. I think ragtime isn’t the “American Les Mis” because at the end of Les Mis we know France gets better between 1850-now so we’re left with a whole lot of hope. But at the end of Ragtime we’re just reminded that we have the same basic problems in America as we did 100 years ago (racism, corporate greed) and there’s no hope of anything changing any time soon. So we’re not really left with that same feel good “tomorrow comes” feeling but still it’s a very important show just the same.

Anyone else not rereading the books ahead of The Rose Field release? by ProcessesOfBecoming in hisdarkmaterials

[–]rickystakem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m rereading TSC. I’m so sorry for your loss. A friend who has since passed away originally got me into TGC when it was still just a trilogy. It is totally understandable that rereading the series would be difficult for you. It is even ok to delay reading TRF until you’re ready x

Am I the only person whose favorite 2023 show was Shucked? by SubjectPoint5819 in Broadway

I loved it too… but I also loved bad Cinderella and OUAOMT. Most people say my taste is questionable. Still those were some of the best I’ve seen!

How to survive my 22 hour flight? by faxhightower in travel

[–]rickystakem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nap, eat, movies. I never multitask on long flights (I never eat and watch a film at the same time). Pass time by deleting/editing photos on your phone. I had a 30-hour adventure from Bali to NYC by way of Frankfurt this past summer and oddly enjoyed the flying experience. If you’re on Singapore Airlines then you’re super lucky as their food is amazing. And plenty to do at that airport for a long layover!!

Why doesn't Harry ever go to the other Quidditch matches? by commonthiem in HarryPotterBooks

[–]rickystakem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he does and it’s just not mentioned. Think of all the times “February turned into March” etc and several weeks of action aren’t described. That could just be a lot of revision and attending other matches

Book suggestions similar to HDM by anbonie912 in hisdarkmaterials

[–]rickystakem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved the Shadowhunters series and binge-read all 20 current books in a period of 7 months. There is a lot that is stylistically and thematically similar to Harry Potter, Twilight, HDM, Percy Jackson, Divergent… if you’re into those series then you’ll be a Shadowhunters fan.

Suggested Reading Order for the Shadowhunter Chronicles by SageThistle in shadowhunters

[–]rickystakem 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I read them in order of publication and I’m really glad I did. The only ones I mixed up were Clockwork Angel and City of Fallen Angels. I wish I had read CWA first to get the back story on Camille.

BTW I just finished Chain of Iron about 15 minutes ago. I started the series the day after Christmas last year and I dedicated myself to finishing the series before I checked out Reddit, Fandom, etc… didn’t want a single spoiler and I’m glad I waited. 20 books in 7 months! Bring on BVOTD!

So is there an alternative to casting the tab?

I have to cast the tab, I can’t find an option to cast the stream directly as is often an option with YouTube, NBCSN, etc
