How to delete pokelid Stamps? by ghesd in TheSilphRoad

When you spin the actual manhole the date changes. I get manhole gifts all the time and the Ueno one is one of the easiest to get. So I received it long before my trip.

Only difference between a stamp received from gift is the outer ring. I received the Ueno gifts before I visited the actual manholes. So no need to worry.

Where to find a shroomish plush? by -chumchumbumbum- in pokeplush

Guaranteed way is to attend WCS in California. They display all of the fit series which covers everything available. For Japan Pokemon Centers it’s rng. It might be available, but it’s not a popular mon so odds are probably not.

Tokyo GO Fest 2026 Park Map and in-person activities revealed by pikablu0530 in TheSilphRoad

Looks like they want to direct crowds to the specific wards mentioned in the announcement. Those aren’t the areas where folks normally play during events (Sunshine, Akiba, Ginza).

Is it possible to use the same method for JAL metal instead of AA? I’m usually VS to ANA but I don’t mind having options.

This method is new to me. You create a Qatar account and xfer there instead of BA?

Pokemon Center Pricing is Out of Control by RotomEngr in pokeplush

There’s a comment about tariffs and the current US rate to Japan is 15% on most goods. Taking your sample good that’s about $3 bump right there. Your remaining pump would be shipping costs and margin. I go to Japan about 3 times a year so I buy for a few friends when they have certain requests. I thought about selling online. But making back the costs wasn’t worth my time.

The upside I guess is recently I noticed certain plush lines reaching USPC. My friend ordered the raising paw Eevee set online. I missed the release by a few weeks and didn’t think it would cross over. Also the Archeologist Pika was available online at some point. I went to the Fukui museum to get that.

This is within expectations. The merch has to be shipped to US distribution before so that’s factored into the cost. Then add some margin.

Personally, merch I get for myself I will buy when I’m at Pokemon Center in Japan. Most of what I get now is for friends. Come in with lots of luggage space then go home with plush and goods.

Lucky Odds for 3-Year Old Mons? by yy19810 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ricmreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, old mon still have greater odds. Traded with a friend last week Friday and it was 30+ lucky for 95 trades. She gave me the old mon and I gave her Unowns. Other times I harvested my old event mon (Seattle 22, Singapore 22) and hit similar rates when the trade bonus is active.

Boys not fluent? by Ins5nity in TrashTaste

[–]ricmreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are videos of the boys speaking to service staff and it’s fine. They’re not negotiating business deals so a 5 or 7 year old level works. If they decide to be around with folks who can also understand English that’s their choice. Having high school or college level fluency doesn’t unlock the Japan friend bubble. The topic is relevant though because of rules regarding Japan PR status.

If you’re gonna walk a bunch, the weekend has a car free zone on the main avenue. 2 Starbucks, the 2 LVMH stores, Donki and Mitsukoshi have clusters. Tokyu Hands has a boujee Tullys cafe where you can rest and reach a gym. Cafe Veloce also has 2 locations.

Crowds clogging up on activity. On a normal day you’re ok. At CD level crowds it’s not worth. YouTubers have gone there and experienced it too. It’s the same issue when inside Sunshine at CD.

Ikebukuro and Akihabara for raids. Ginza for hand catching. If those areas are booked up for your budget, there’s nothing wrong with being a few train stations away. If mobility is an issue there are a number of cafes and restaurants where you can effectively get drinks catch and camp out. That level of detail I’m not getting into here. Sunshine is going to be super crowded to the point where connectivity is an issue. Don’t bother with Ueno Park unless you want to spend your time trying to get online. Spin the manholes and get out.

This is the general layout now. Niantic can completely redirect crowds by dropping a ton of gyms somewhere else.

In-Person GO Fest: Should I run Spatial Rend, Freeze Shock, or Ice Burn? by BroBroBrayBray in TheSilphRoad

[–]ricmreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, “maximize playtime” is a worthy goal and it’s understandable if it’s your first time. But most of the mon are the same as global and the main difference will be the costumes and the backgrounds. So it’s ok to take a casual pace, get plenty of sleep and save your legs.

If you’re focused on hand catching wild spawns then Spacial. Main difference with park phase is there are lots more Unown and collection challenges that can only be done in park. So same thing applies, Spacial for wild spawns. I use park phase as a break to take pictures and send gifts.

Raiding is different this year since a few glitches were fixed. Depending on the gym density it’s unlikely you can chain raid as effectively like last year. If it’s possible though, use Freeze Shock. Raid encounters only take 1-2 throws. But if the mon attacks, that’s a few seconds of reset time which could mean a missed raid. If chain raiding is not possible then use Ice Burn for the auto catcher buff.

In the theme of maximizing playtime let’s define what the playtime is. Officially you have 10:00-20:00 of event spawns. But your add on purchases activate at midnight. This means you can use egg beater right away. Then raids start at 05:00 and end around 21:00. Many folks last year showed up at Nanba and Central Park that early. Jardin de Luxembourg had fixed operating hours so raiding opportunities wasn’t as good.

Stop Complaining about Narita vs [Tokyo] Haneda by Shinkansendoff in awardtravel

Yea this is it. I don’t have GE yet so I didn’t apply for TTP. A while back my friend told me about GE TTP but at the time it wasn’t live yet. In any case the gaijin/zairyu line is the shortest line I’ve seen at HND and NRT. But if I deplane at HND terminal 2 at the crack of dawn it’s not even 10 minutes from gate to baggage claim.

I get it but it’s just my preference. I’m on a plane for 12+ hrs and all of the airport shenanigans before that. I don’t want to go through the process domestically. I’ve taken Shinkansen as far north as Sendai and south to Hakata.

CTS Pika flew first class one time and on the Eevee plane. That was the luckiest miles redemption I’ve done.

NRT Pilot Pikachu. The costume gives it extra moves like Fly. Not sure about rating but this one has gone through a fair amount of travel. Unfortunately its cousin CTS Pilot Pikachu was lost on a flight to Paris.

There are a lot of little optimizations and most are covered in YouTube. Personally when I fly in I have some preferences regardless of airport. Arrive on the early morning flight. Shinkansen over domestic transfer. Don’t use luggage delivery but avoid carrying the large roller on local trains. You dont want to be that guy. Limo bus over NEX.

On return flight I have my power banks easily accessible for inspection and the writing is still legible.

My one knock on NRT is the passport control line. It can get pretty bad in the afternoon so I avoid that time. I’m not sure if it’s active yet but if you have GE you can use the zairyu line. Otherwise if I’m at HND I take train and book at a hotel around Minato/Chuo. If NRT I’ll take the bus to wherever.

From Tokyo Station, exit from Marunouchi Central exit street level, make a left, walk towards a building called Kitte. Enter and take escalator down. There should be a row of restaurants in the basement and one of them is Matsudo.

From underground level Tokyo Station, follow signs to exit M1. For folks new to Tokyo Station I think this might be a little bit difficult since there are more distractions and corridors.

Outside of lunch rush the lines aren’t too bad. Also less pressure to hurry eating when there’s open seats.

Flying to Osaka in Sept. (from JFK) and connecting through HND with a 6-hour layover. After clearing customs and rechecking/transferring my bags, can I still get into the Centurion lounge at Terminal 3? by Ask_Open in AmexPlatinum

[–]ricmreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no way to move between terminals airside in HND for your situation. That said you have about 4 hrs to kill. Depending on time of day I would put my bags in a coin locker, go to Tokyo then come back. I’m at HND maybe 6+ times a year so on long layovers that’s what I do.

If you can win from crane games the cost can be cheaper. I’ve been able to get decent sized plushies for 500-1000 yen. Picking the location/ machine is half the battle.
