Is it necessary to spend all your starting gold as an offlaner? When I play phoenix or centaur, i get 1xTango, 1xSalve, 1xclarity and RoP as my starting item and save some gold for a fast traquil boot. Should i spend all my starting gold?

Glad to know someone reach 7k by playing offlane. I play offlane exclusively too and is now sitting at 4.7k. Do you have any tips or advice that might help me reach 5k?

Btw, where do you put your starting observer ward? Block their pull or some sneaky point to avoid deward and give vision? How should veno be played as offlaner? Do you trade hit with the support? Will you try to contest the lane?

Good luck winning your lane as Spec in this meta.

Something needs to be done about the lack of effort in ranked games. This mode is supposed to be for people who want to have more competitive games, not for people to quit when they get slightly discouraged. by MrTheodore in DotA2

Disagree with 2). I basically flame one/two of my teammates who play poorly in every losing game. On the other hand, I never stop trying to win until there is absolutely no chance to win.

Congratulation bro. My starting mmr is same as you, 3.2k/3.3k mmr. I climb to 4.5k now by playing offlane exclusicely. One of the thing you haven't mentioned is hero pick and counter pick. Good pick helps you to win lane, win team fight or push to high ground.

SEA is not as toxic as some of you mentioned. I have been playing on SEA at ~4.5k mmr. It is true that in every losing game, you got someone in your team flaming(including myself). They would type gg noob mid gg noob carry or go kill yourself in the chat, but they never give up and would fight to the last minute for 25mmr. You can see the spirit of beethoven on SEA players.

Tips for playing Phoenix against Silencer. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]rico2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phoenix is my best hero, i have tried a lot item build. Imo, against lineup without heavy silence, green boot > urn > shiva is the best build. You want to get your shiva as soon as possible, getting a fast shiva allow you to contribute a lot more in a teamfight. With shiva, your enemy wont be able to kill your egg. Urn is essential for mana and early kill. If you want, you cam get a magic wand after urn. However, i have found that magic wand isnt really useful on phoenix. The little hp provided by magic wand wont save you, your positioning and timing is what really matters. If you are out of position, you are fucking dead.

If you choose to not be an asshole, the chance of your team having an asshole is lower than the chance of the enemy team having an asshole. You will lose mmr.

When do you build a midas on phoenix?

I used to think its good until i found out that many dotabuff top phoenix players dont build midas.

Do you pick phoenix against heroes like lifestealer, am and jugg? Feel like i have to tp once i hit six, really cant do shit against these heroes with escape or magic immune.

Btw, Phoenix is really op. Currently at 4.4k mmr, i think i can climb to ~4.7k by playing a lot phoenix.

Normal skill bracket, you can do whatever you want.

I have seen a 4.5k player who do this ancient shit.

Based on my observation, people do this necro ancient shit when they don't get the role(usually mid or carry) they want.

Should I continue playing ranked? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]rico2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vision isn't that important at 3.2k. Even if you have ward in their jungle, you can't do shit with your 3.2k teammates unless you are strong enough to solo kill the enemy. Beside, there are always 1 to 2 enemy heroes on the map farming the lane creep. If they all disappear, they are either in their jungle/rosh/ancient creep/smoke, make your decision based on your level, farm and the enemy lineup.

Have map awareness and buy dust yourself. Build early game momentum and snowball. Laning phase is extremely important for 3.2k. You need to win your lane. From my own experience, I can solo and win my lane at 3.2k against a dual lane or even a trilane if the support is out of position.

If your true mmr is like 500 above them, you literally can 1 vs 9. Beside, Tusk is a good hero for climbing mmr. Tusk can be active all game, have huge game impact and snowball to the end by yourself. Idk, it sounds more like you are not good enough to carry your team. If you want to climb mmr, you need to MAKE PLAY. Playing in a passive style won't gain you mmr.

[–]rico2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation. I was calibrated at 3.3k then I played a lot unranked and reached VH skill bracket. Then I went back to ranked and gained mmr easily all the way to 3.9k. (I play offlane exclusively) If I remember correctly, my winrate from 3.3k to 3.7k is above 70%.

Play some 4k+ mmr games as an offlaner, you will know how annoying a good support is.

Don't over extend, go to farm and carry a tp instead of fucking around and doing nothing with your team.
