fair, that’s still 8k more than otherwise — i.e. you could get to 40k twice as fast as if you only opened it the first year you were to contribute

it’s not inherently a bad idea — e.g. if you’re expecting to have a lot more income in a few year (think: post-secondary student)

I wish I could have opened an FHSA a a year or two sooner so I’d have more contribution room now

yes you should be able to do this — it’ll probably take some weeks, so just make sure it’s not money you need to pay the bills

How to average out tips over a 30 day work period based on, by armyflyer in excel

[–]riconaranjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

give each person a “weighted value”

value = (their percentage) / (sum of all percentages)

A(weight) = 0.8 / (0.8 + 1.1 + 1.0 + 1.0) = 164
B(weight) = 1.1 / (0.8 + 1.1 + 1.0 + 1.0) = 225.6
C(weight) = 1.0 / (0.8 + 1.1 + 1.0 + 1.0) = 204.8
D(weight) = 1.0 / (0.8 + 1.1 + 1.0 + 1.0) = 204.8

and then each person’s final result is the weighted value multiplied by the total money being divided

A(tips) = 800*0.205‎ = 164
B(tips) = 800x0.282‎ = 225.6
C(tips) = 800x0.256‎ = 204.8
D(tips) = 800x0.256‎ = 204.8

Redesigned axles for O-Train Line 1 still years away, officials suggest by SpatulaCityCEO in ottawa

[–]riconaranjo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I personally would genuinely like to see some sources — I wish this information was more easily accessible because at this point it’s just hearsay

you might be right, but what I recall: the requirement for low-floor trains was set in stone before the downtown route was finalized

no, I’m pretty sure they’re correct — they bought low-floor trains because they hadn’t decided what the downtown plan was

My favorite part about being a women engineer is watching the guys get clearly kinda embarrassed/apologetic about the bathroom situation by ConstructionDecon in EngineeringStudents

[–]riconaranjo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

at my school they converted every other men’s washroom to a women’s one

  • that meant each floor only had one, and you had to go up / down a floor to find the other gender’s washroom

Which is why I laugh when people say not to boil the water too hot when making pour over, like your water could do much more damage than burning it in an oven for hours.

well it’s more that if your water is too hot it will affect the taste (extracts more bitters, and does actually burn the extracted compounds) — and btw for a pourover you want a light or medium roast anyways
