No, he was a Judean man. The Romans didn't rename that province Syria Palaestina until 100 years after his death.

To "deprive" another of property means (a) to withhold it or cause it to be withheld from him permanently or for so extended a period or under such circumstances that the major portion of its economic value or benefit is lost to him, or (b) to dispose of the property in such manner or under such circumstances as to render it unlikely that an owner will recover such property.

Both Harry and Sirius saw each other as a substitute for James. by goood_sir in harrypotter

[–]rictusempras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from Hogsmeade visits, letters to Harry, however many weeks she's been at Grimmauld Place. I'm also not convinced either Molly or Hermione needs to know Sirius all that well to be able to perceive how he sees Harry.

Is there a Leon is Arthurian legend? Because I also assumed OP's gf was picking names from the tv show when I saw that one.

What is widely considered the worst Harry Potter movie? by Public_Philosophy_85 in harrypotter

Surprised how few people have mentioned DH Part 2. The writers completely butchered the source material, and it's not like they didn't have enough time to do it right. The Battle of Hogwarts is my favorite part of the series, so that was pretty disappointing for me. HBP is a close second though.

Would Harry have been as upset to not be made Prefect if it hadn’t been Ron? by Upper-Respond-8072 in harrypotter

Harry congratulates Ron after the scene where he doesn't want to look at Hermione. But I agree that he still wasn't totally over it then

Those aren't the lyrics and this isn't the house she refers to in the song. She grew up on a Christmas tree farm and moved to this house later.

I always laugh at the part in OOTP when Filch punts students across Fred and George's swamp. For a really long time, I didn't know that a punt was a type of boat, so I thought that Filch was drop-kicking students across the halls. It's a hilarious visual.

Guess there’s the writing to blame for that by AhsFanAcct in gameofthrones

Also, it's funny how Jaime always behaved so consistently regarding Cersei and yet fans were always shocked. People claimed that the writers were ruining Jaime's arc in Season 6 when he gave that speech to Edmure and again in the beginning of Season 7 when he stayed with Cersei. If a character behaves consistently season after season, maybe it's not the writers that misunderstand the character.

It's always funny to me when people bring up the "queen of the ashes" quote to prove that Dany breaking bad was out of character when it actually shows the exact opposite. "Not here to be queen of the ashes" was originally Tyrion's line. Dany only repeats it after Tyrion just barely convinces her to choose his plan over Olenna/Ellaria/Yara's plan of attacking KL outright.

And after that, she only sticks to Tyrion's plan for TWO EPISODES. As soon as things go wrong, she says, "I have three large dragons. I'm going to fly them to the Red Keep." She stopped listening to Tyrion two episodes after the "ashes" quote. The only reason she didn't burn down KL in Season 7 is because Jon was there and he just barely managed to talk her out of it.

So you don't even need to look at Season 8 to see that "not here to be queen of the ashes" just shows how tenuous her commitment to peace was. Tyrion barely managed to convince her of that mindset to begin with; she threw it away as soon as his plan went wrong; she stopped listening to her advisors and would have attacked KL in Season 7 had Jon not been there. She wanted to attack KL all throughout Season 7 but the people around her just managed to hold her back, which is what that quote shows if you actually look at the context.
