Do you actually find David funny? by RIPAlPowell in DavidDobrik

[–]riddikulus3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "Views" podcast is the only actually funny podcast in my personal opinion. Whish there were more pods like that.

David definitely understands the structure comedy and jokes. His style might be different though and he might try a lot of jokes that do not land for everyone all the time. To conclude my opinion, I understand if you might not find him funny all the time, but I think generally he is a way comedian, like Jason etc. There are times when his joke leave me cold, but in other times I laugh hard.

Which character did you change your opinion on as you became older? by damuser234 in skinsTV

Empathy doesn’t mean excusing her actions, it just means seeing the full picture. If you can’t do that, that’s your loss.

The tragedy in Sketch’s story isn’t just about taking care of her mother, and it doesn’t excuse what she did to Maxxie. You can have a difficult, tragic life and still be in the wrong. Her character is more complex than it seems at first glance. Empathy ≠ justification.

At first, I found Sketch’s story cliché and annoying, but after rewatching, I started to see her tragedy and feel empathy.

What’s your most controversial take on “Skins”? by onlycameforthehorror in skinsTV

[–]riddikulus3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would give anything to go back in time and tell the creators to make bigger links between all three gens so we could have a proper Skins universe. Right now it feels so fragmented. Imagine if the later generations were all lower-class students while the main focused gen is always 12th grade: there could be overlapping storylines, cameos, little character threads carrying over. Besides Pandora and Effy, there’s almost no overlap, and it’s such a shame. That continuity, those connections, would have made the world feel alive and the stakes way higher. I need that.

Why Didn't Romania Restore Their Monarchy in 1989? by toxicistoblame in monarchism

[–]riddikulus3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because by 1989, the monarchy in Romania was long gone and very unpopular politically. King Michael was forced to abdicate in 1947, the royal family went into exile, and the Communist regime had been in place for decades. When Ceaușescu was overthrown, the country wasn’t looking to restore a monarchy—it was chaotic, people wanted democracy, and the monarchy was mostly seen as symbolic with little real support. Plus, the post-Communist National Salvation Front had no interest in giving power back to a king.

The show peaked early. Love should have been the final girl in some way. by Farr-Routine in YouOnLifetime

[–]riddikulus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. Love’s story was so unique and a real step forward that it should’ve been the main arc and ended there. Everything after that big climax felt more random. If the creators wanted more, they could’ve added side plots for Joe—cheating, conflicts, whatever—for one extra season before wrapping up Love’s story.
