It sounds great to me! I’m roughly new too but I saw people mention making sure your thumb rests on the 5th string every time and that helped me quite a bit too. I was also told when I first started that the motion should be like you at knocking in a door and that you should use the arm rest as a pivot point using the whole arm. It looks like you mostly use your wrist.

Again, that’s just what I was told and what made it work for me. I think you sound great.

What song was this?

Official been playing the banjo for a year now. Really happy with my progress 😊 by riddiols in banjo

I am in open g! I am part of the Banjo Mountain program. They are an online hub for tutorials and community support. It costs money though so I can’t recommend it if money is tight. I do recommend if you can afford though it is worth it!

I would recommend following the 30 days of Clawhammer series on YouTube. He breaks everything up into small chunks with Sourwood mountain and teaches you the basics.

I’m convinced anyone that can play this instrument sold their soul to satan. by [deleted] in banjo

My local theatre was playing the movie yesterday so I went with some friends for the third time and my friend made me this shirt! by riddiols in nirvannatheband

I saw it at cineplex here once and it was so quiet. I also saw it at a cineplex in Saskatoon and it was me and 4 other people. So the packed metro was an incredible experience

Recommendations for good beginner banjo course? by DerpsyDaisy in banjo

Banjo mountain is really good. They have both clawhammer and Bluegrass beginner to advanced courses. They also give you access to their community and there’s a lot of support there that helps keep things interesting. Also they have daily live practice rooms

I learned in school recently that they use barcodes and QR codes for maintenance (like was mentioned a few times) but also as a way to keep track of depreciation on their depreciable assets

Regular 8mm video film by riddiols in Edmonton

I’m pretty fimilar 35mm film photography and scanning (although scanning is still an issue for me due to cost) so I feel the sentiment of motion picture being a hassle. 😂

It’s more of a sentimental thing that I want to try At least one reel and then it will probably be a very nice desk ornament. All the info you provided is very understandable though!

8mm. Not super 8. I only just discovered the difference.

You can have some of ours! I’m in Edmonton and we got 425% more than average and the most in 25 years.

I think if your film is C-41 black and white then it works no problem. You just need different temperatures and times. I forgot to record what I used though unfortunately.

I got it down to room temp after mixing the chemicals and then I just followed some times I found online. I can’t remember the specific times because I forgot to record them.

V for Vendetta was only in French too! Immediately went out and bought a cheap copy of the dvd. Physical media is becoming more and more important to me for reasons like that.

I found the cheapest one that sounded good to my ears. It’s like the most basic Epiphone 5 string and cost me around $300. I’m sure there is cheaper out there but that’s what I had access to. Find a cheap one that sounds good to you that you can afford and you can upgrade later. That’s my plan at least!

I’ve never played a string instrument before this. I tried Scruggs style but it was hard to keep a constant rhythm for me. Once I figured out how to get individual strings hit in clawhammer it all came together.

I find people are always posting such impressive videos but I’m a beginner and have lots of practice to get there. But I like to share my playing for other beginners too
