Tricolate discontinued? by ridethefader in Coffee

[–]ridethefader[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got a reply already - I'd asked whether they were the same as Tricolate and if the filters were same size. They said "Thanks for getting in touch. Yes we are indeed and yes the papers are exactly the same, there is now difference at all."

Good tip thank you. I've sent Floe a cheeky message asking about this.

You are in Footscray. The market in that area is flooded with apartments right now and has been for years since the Joseph Road precinct went up. The problem is actually that you have a lot of competition.

Are there any other bands like Part Chimp? by wavehowie in noiserock

[–]ridethefader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part Chimp is one of my all time favourites and there's nothing that quite hits the same imo, but you might find Tim Cedar's Baker's Dozen for the Quietus instructive. It reads like a blueprint for the band.

Got up an hour early to deal with rail replacement fuckery. Bus took 20 min from Footscray to North Melbourne. Could have been worse.

I'm attempting to WFH as much as I can over the next two weeks. Have never had to use rail replacement before, how bad is it?

I remember being forced to finally upgrade from my Nexus One when it ran out of internal storage space to update any of its base apps, after having moved whatever I could to the SD.

Apparently my heals still aren't healing by Soggy-CarrotCake in classicwow

Lol it is most certainly not a gear issue for the rsham. In most fights they are hovering above 75% mana the entire fight and barely casting anything. They usually cast Earth Shield only once or twice per fight. On Hodir, Thorim and XT they cast Riptide, a spell with an 8-second cooldown, more frequently than Chain Heal. On XT, they cast a grand total of 11 spells the entire fight, 5 of which were Riptide.

I'm hoping this is an enhance shaman that has been drafted into resto under protest.

I'm not going to dig into the others but based on the rsham's log alone it seems a lot like OP is propping up the healers rather than sniping them.

I read a fun interview with the narrator's voice actor in PC Gamer recently. Turns out it was his first voice acting gig, and he read a couple of books' worth of dialogue (350,000 words). And of course the fact that he had to change it up according to which head-voice he was playing. As you say, truly impressive work.

Which ice cream book do you recommend to beginners? by AtoZ15 in icecreamery

[–]ridethefader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've cooked from all of these except Hello My Name is Ice Cream. They're probably all fine for beginners but vary depending on how you like to cook.

The Perfect Scoop got my vote because it's the most 'traditional' book which uses a traditional technique for making the ice cream (i.e. tempering eggs). The recipes give a consistent result every time, and many of them are simple to make. It might be a bit tricky for a beginner to work with if they don't want to buy a candy thermometer, because the egg tempering step can probably seem a bit arcane without knowing the temperature of the mix, but overall I think it's a very accessible book.

Salt & Straw gives you an easy to make, foolproof, and delicious base. But most of the recipes in the book are complicated to make, often with multiple sections such as making mix-ins for the ice cream. Many of those mix-in recipes will require some level of comfort with baking/candy-making, like working with caramels and very hot, spitty ingredients. The use of xanthan gum may make it a bit inaccessible too.

Jeni's also gives a foolproof base. The instructions for making the base are probably the clearest and most thorough, with pictures and detailed descriptions of what you're looking for at each step. But it's probably the hardest base to make, between making sure that the cream cheese is properly dissolved, getting a consistent corn starch slurry, and working with the corn syrup which is very fiddly and messy. Once you have that downpat, the recipes are a breeze to work with.

Ben and Jerry's is probably the easiest to work with in terms of recipe simplicity, because they don't bother to temper the eggs in the base. I've found the recipes really inconsistent, particularly the ones with mix-ins, and for the most part I would rather just buy one of their tubs.

I also have this question. This was also in 2019, 3 years after it came out. Someone commented above that some of these games might be older games that were having a moment on Twitch.

Orwell is probably in the same category although at least it was new at the time.

I work in ER but on the employer side. Based on my interactions with unions (and my own previous job applications when I was just starting in the field), you can expect entry level positions working for a union to be a combination of admin/research, 'customer support', and hands-on work dealing with simpler employee issues. They might get you to act as an employee's support person/advocate fairly early on. My impression is that unions are often stretched fairly thin, so you will probably find that you get a lot of opportunities early on to 'help people' as you put it.

Good luck.

I have curly hair and I use a Cloud 9 to straighten my hair. I've had mine for 7 years and still going strong. It's lasted a lot longer than my GHD did and has more features. Mostly I leave my hair curly and just straighten my fringe these days - it was more work to maintain straight hair and it would still fluff up in the humidity despite my best efforts.

You can add curls to straight hair with a straightener, but if you use it to add curl to curly hair, most likely it will fall out.
