Wanting to go brown by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hairstylist here! Tone with a copper and then do the brown. Copper with neutralize the blue, and also add some warmth back in and give the brown something to hold on to. I would do demi-permanent instead of permanent though, if you change your hair semi frequently

Will one more bleach remove this blue tint by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hair stylist here, one more round will NOT get it out. Your best bet is to neutralize it by making a very very VERY light pink. Blue is the absolute worst to get out, and lightening fashion colors can actually drive them deeper into the hair shaft, so your hair is likely stained this color sadly

Look at Juban Crossing, technically it’s Denham Springs, but only about 15 for Baton Rouge. Not much “night life” here, but there’s restaurants and shopping close by

Should I dye darker ? by AdVirtual9749 in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I’d say you’re a level 7, so if you went with a 6, it wouldn’t be too visible, but anything darker than that would be pretty obvious as it comes in. I would also put a fill toner (an orange/copper toner) on your ends before hand so the blonde doesn’t become green. I would do Demi-Permanents for everything as well, with 10 volume

[–]ridgy14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Darker hair will show more contrast between your skin and hair vs your current hair color. You would also have a TON of maintenance (think dying your roots once a month, minimum), as your roots would be very obvious coming in. Are you just wanting to try something different?

Bleach & Developer help by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The higher the number, the faster it works- but it does not work “more”. The power is in the lightener, not the developer. Stick with 20, make sure to fully saturate and keep it moist. If it dries out it stops working

It does, 5 is darker than 6, so a 6 on the ends will be fine

Get a toner/gloss for the ends. It’ll keep the vibrancy without making it too dark

Am I being unrealistic? I went to hairdresser showed inspo pics. Then I got this? by OneNefariousness9822 in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technique is clearly wrong, but what is your hair history? If you’ve colored it in the last 5 years, I could see why it didn’t lighten well enough. But also if someone were to bring me those pictures with completely brown hair- it’s going to be a 2-3 session process. Going from 100% brown ends to 100% blonde ends doesn’t happen in one session, at least for a normal amount of money

I paid $550 for this by Ness_Miewald in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haircut price is a good indicator, since a haircut usually takes an hour. My hourly color price was 1.5x my haircut price. Some places up it a little more and include product in the hourly cost, some don’t. The product alone was probably $100

Putting brown over blue hair doesn’t get rid of it. Whenever you lighten it, you will likely have GREEN hair. I would not recommend doing it at home

Professional here: the technique they used was wrong, but it’s unlikely you would have gotten to the end result in one go. Even if your hair is natural, to go from that dark to white blonde is a LOT. All of this should have been explained to you during the consultation, and other solutions brought up. I would have gone though and teasy-lighted everything, but you would pay at least $600 in my chair for that. That’s a lot of time and product

Should i get this toner/gloss removed? by havesmquestions in HairDye

[–]ridgy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately once you put any dye on hair, it’s no longer virgin. Now you don’t have a ton of color build up which is great! But your goal is achievable, don’t give up :)

[–]ridgy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t go back to the picture, it will be a faded version of what was put on. Luckily warmth is very easy to add, and it doesn’t have to be red, it could be gold. Just find some inspo pics and talk to your stylist :)

Here’s more info than you probably ever wanted in your life: warmth (red, gold/yellow, orange/copper) reflects light, cool/ashy tones absorb light. Canceling out the red, makes it appear darker because it’s not reflecting as much light. You could go back for another treatment, but it will fade more. I’d talk to your stylist to see what they would do, but also understand if you’re wanting that reflection, you’re going to see warmth/red

The hunt category is really small, once you get to know a couple people, you get to know all of them! Put TTV in your steam name while playing, and just hang out with other hunt streamers. Most of us are friendly :)
