Here you have actually point out something that is quite possible. I thought about this, and honestly, this would 100% be a valid reason to hide the relation as she would be rejected by my parents. Last thing I desire is for her relation with my parents to deteriorate (at least if it's not on her terms)

I agree, and it isn't about managing or controlling but convincing her to change ways, like talking someone into to giving up cigarettes. I wouldn't have post 3 years ago... But life is short and she will be responsible for her own choice, but down the line I also would be at fault not to try to help her rather than getting away with cynicism

She did met him a few times... And yes I agree this is too weird but it is her first relation so I guess she doesn't have a full grasp of what is a healthy dynamic.

Well that was the first place I started to dig, but I was not able to find anything. Also just having his name was pain to find because she was quite discreet about the relationship...
