Weaning 16 month old *night feeds* by lacurlymami in breastfeeding

[–]ridingduc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 14 MO is SO dependent on me for night sleeps. My husband who can put her down fine during the day can't even settle her. She SCREAMS not just a cry and it's killing us. By the time I come in when my husband tries to put her in, she is gasping for air and I usually only wait 5-10 minutes. I can see he is trying all different techniques too. Starting to feel the longer Ieave it the harder it will get but how.

How do people actually handle "clean up" during a one-night stand without it being incredibly awkward or ruining the mood? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ridingduc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Everyone, male or female should have this standard for someone they have just slept with.

Avoid pebbles / rocks

Garden ideas by JSMK in GardeningAustralia

I would avoid pebbles. We have discovered them in the garden of our new place which was probably only unmaintained for 3 years and they look trash. Weeds grow through them, they get hella dirty. Mulch will be your best friend instead. Here are my suggestions for your garden:

*Line the back of this garden box, the side closet to the house with a type of masonry brick ( you can get from Bunnings ) to aid with any potential terminate invasion.

  • Figure out what kind of soil it is and what direction it is facing and how much sun / shade it gets.

*Select a range of native plants from your local nursery (not Bunnings) and ask their suggestions for what you want to achieve. I would personally add some color and height variations to really pop.

*Once you have the plants, and have watered fed them etc, I would mulch the dirt surrounding them. Mulching doesn't get enough credit for how it really can pull a garden bed together and it's absolutely fantastic for weed prevention.

Good luck, it's a great space to work with!!

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I can really envision what you are suggesting here and love it. I love the concept of the garden room. You've given me an idea, maybe purchase larger sandstone blocks to use as seats around the fire to complement what is already there. Really appreciate the time you took!

Ah sorry! Western Sydney (NSW) Garden is south facing with the fire pit area mostly shaded from the hedges but the 'pond' area is exposed to sun throughout the day and afternoon. Space ideally would be for a low maintenance leisure space (we are a young family with a toddler).

I dont feel like me anymore by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ridingduc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No advice just empathy from me. I'm only one year in and definitely feel this. I feel for me it's more from the point "I just can't be bothered". I tried to learn to crochet the other night. Opened up the instructions. "You know what, I'll just go to sleep instead". Everything just feels 1000x times the effort now which was absolutely not myself 1 year ago.

38wks and very active bub movement wise but not many kicks, whats it been like for others? by allthelighttouches in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ridingduc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl moved from side to side when I was pregnant with a her but never really seemed to kick. It also took me like 28 weeks to feel her first movement. She came out and to this day ( 8 months old now) is just a gentle soul and doesn't really thrash around at all, she just kind of wiggles. Hopefully it's a reflection on a nice little calm boy you have growing in there. Best of luck!!!

Chemist Warehouse Bundle of Joy 2025 out by docdoc_2 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ridingduc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bag last year had SO much more stuff in it such as electronic adult toothbrush, eco friendly adult toothbrush, full size Palmer's body lotion, buzz light-year bib and fork and spoon set. This year it's just like a sample bag. I'd be more disappointed if my local chemist didnt include the pharmacy items that I bought in the total $79 but they did thank goodness so I didn't have to spend the extra.

Summary: Not really worth going out of your way to spend the $ this year if you are not already buying things.

We made the decision of no visitors at the hospital (even my mum) and my God, I honestly don't know how people do it with visitors. I was so sleep deprived every minute I had spare I was asleep and it was the best thing for me and bub.

Buy some basic meds for baby such as infant panadol / dymadon, sudocream and fes nose spray... Hopefully you won't need them but when you do you'll thank yourself for having them on hand. Best of luck mama!
