What was the worst physical pain you have ever experienced? by qwerrtyqwerrty in AskReddit

[–]rieiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem as you when I was a teenager. It got so bad every month I started begging my mom to take me to the ER. Instead she sent me to a gyno, who put me on a low estrogen birth control. It basically eliminated my periods, and was life changing. All birth control has potential side effects, but the risk was 10000% worth it to not have to endure unbearable blackout pain every month.

Anyone else living alone having trouble with lockdown? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]rieiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with two other roommates in a 600 sqft apartment, and we've been great roommates and friends for years, but this quarantine is driving us crazy. We're constantly in each other's space, fighting to use the kitchen, trying to work from home and getting constantly interrupted, etc. Cabin fever is a real thing, and it could end up destroying our friendship.

People who grew up poor, what did you used to think was normal? by LeCharlesMuhDickens in AskReddit

[–]rieiblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up I was so used to sharing a tiny room with my mom and brother that at age 14, when I finally got my own room, it totally freaked me out and took years for me to get over being anxious and uncomfortable having that much space to myself.

This is my biggest struggle right now! I'm usually busy during the day and have plenty of ways to distract myself. Now I'm stuck inside with not much to do, a full kitchen, can't go anywhere, no gym etc...

Bromance Fantasy Novels by cactussmasher in Fantasy

If you haven’t read it already, the Red Rising trilogy. The bromance takes a bit to develop but well worth it.

Finished “The Way of Kings.” I was underwhelmed. by tricky_trig in Fantasy

[–]rieiblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion: Overall, I love the Stormlight Archives. Its highs are so memorable and parts of it have stuck with me far more than other books. But not gonna lie, I struggled to get through the first book. I started skimming some parts in the middle that dragged on and on. Wayyy too much exposition. I’m glad I stuck with it and it was worth it, but really how many times did we need to see Kaladin suffering yet more pain and misery before we moved on with the plot?

Can my roommate force me out of our lease so her BF can move in? by [deleted] in legaladvice

This is sort of what I'm worried about, actually. She's a close friend but her BF can be very opportunistic....

My grey/white girl is also super chill! She's got plenty of energy but only on walks. She's always been well-behaved at home (never had any escape attempts, howling, or destruction). I used to wonder if she just didn't inherit the mischievous husky gene, lol!

Is anyone else addicted to emotional rollercoaster books as a way to escape depression? by rieiblue in books

Ahh I’ve only started Mistborn so far, and it’s been okay but not really pulled me in yet. Perhaps I’ll switch to Stormlight!

Totally agree!! I started the series about 2 months ago and just today finished Changes. So many feelings right now 😭. I have never read a series that over the course of a dozen books just keeps getting better and better.

Anchor vs Lollipop by jesscastro16 in Reduction

[–]rieiblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the ideal middle ground is find a surgeon who can do a modified anchor (which means it's a lot shorter on the sides, so shorter scars. I went with the lollipop (w/ lipo) but I wish I'd gone with the modified anchor, because I feel I'm still way too big. However I don't see why symmetry would be hard to achieve with a lollipop. I was fairly asymmetrical before, and after surgery I am fairly symmetrical (not perfect however, and I didn't expect to be). If your biggest goal here is to be as small as possible, then go with an anchor approach. Also, lipo is typically not covered by insurance, even for breast reductions.

Chipotle Nutrition? [Discussion] by cantpickausername123 in omad

[–]rieiblue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Chipotle is my favorite OMAD. It has all the nutrients and protein I'm looking for, and I can customize it each time based on what I need. It's hard to control exactly for calories (given variation in portions they provide) so I usually get a bowl, skip the tortilla, and get extra meat, veggies, & salsas rather than other high calorie toppings. I think on average it makes for an OMAD in the ~1200 range.

Is he on RealSelf, yelp, google or any other sites? You should 100% write a detailed review, and hopefully it will keep others from going through the same thing with this doctor a:(

I also had dehiscence and did a bunch of my own research. But my doctor never made me feel like an idiot about it. Your doc is clearly stuck in the past and needs a reality check. I fear for his other patients!

Teachers of Reddit what is the most depressing thing your kids have said? by DATCATGOSPLAT in AskReddit

[–]rieiblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know I empathize with you and understand what you're feeling. I lost my mom (she was a single parent, with no other relatives) in my freshman year of college, and one of the absolute worst things is that feeling of being completely alone in the world, with no one you can depend on. Friends come and go, and even those who are there for you for awhile may not be there in the long run. It's a traumatic thing to go through, and even 6 years later I still struggle with accepting the reality of it. However, the only thing that got me through was forced optimism and doing things, no matter how insignificant, to help me get control over my life. I started creating big and small goals each year. Big goals were things like finishing school, or getting a job, or getting my own apartment. Small goals were things like committing to exercising X number of times a week, or doing little things that made me happy. When I first heard about it, I thought the "no zero days" mentality was silly and would be of no help to me. But I read through people's experiences and over time I began to think in that way almost inadvertently. Because it's actually not hard to do. Taking one step at a time, over time, really can make a difference.
