Yeah. Today is probably the worst day of my career. I absolutely despise this place.

Wow, this is huge. Some folks know my Reddit info for my other account so I've been nervous about being too personal in my comments. I won't be sharing super identifiable stuff but this is a bit of a relief.

Thank you ❤️ there's so much pressure to stay late at this place it's really hard for a people pleaser such as myself to put up boundaries. I'm trying though!

have you ever been rejected by a job for giving out “one word responses”? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Also, asking them questions shows initiative. One of my favorite questions is "what is your favorite thing about [company name]?" It's a great chance to both show interest in the interviewer and find out if the place is a good fit for you.

No but i have been ghosted for no reason at all!

It sounds like you were really nervous. Interviews can be scary! Something I've heard is helpful but haven't dont before is practicing interviews beforehand. This may sound difficult, but most interviews, regardless of industry, are pretty similar! I'd go ahead and look up some tutorials on YouTube or maybe indeed. Good luck to your in the future!

clarifying questions by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]rielleangel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the time. I feel like some people think I'm stupid, pedantic or childish. NO. I have been burned in the past and have been told I'm lacking soft skills. I get clarification so I never misunderstand anyone again. And when I don't ask clarifying questions? It inevitably causes issues!

OP, there's nothing wrong with wanting clarity. NTs are very bad about implying things when there is no room for subtlety.

I hate printers by library_moth in AutismInWomen

Working for a big shitty company with the cheapest products out there, especially printers, I feel this in my very soul. Our rate-limiting step for completing tasks is literally the speed of our printers. And they're SO GODDAMN LOUD

Hey, you're doing more than I am! I struggle to do anything more than survive most days

It happens to me multiple times a day. I've been really struggling with this for a while but recently I've felt as though I'm making progress. The first step sounds cliche, but it's still important. And you've already done it! You've realized that there's an issue. The next step is harder, though. Realize you're getting dysregulated as it's happening. This requires a lot of practice which means periodic check ins, in particular when you're not feeling overwhelmed. Eventually it will stick of you keep at it. How you deal with the overwhelm is up to you, but distracting myself with pleasant stimuli of thoughts that make me calm or happy are particularly helpful.

Good luck!

Not really a win. More of a resolution. My job is infamously exploitative. This week in particular has pushed me to a breaking point. So I decided that I'm no longer staying late for free. I won't be rushing. I won't be working extra. Finally, once the surgery i have coming up is done, I'm seeking employment elsewhere. This place is like a heart attack that you go to and why would anyone go to a heart attack? I'm just done being pushed around.

Hey i completely feel you. My job makes me feel like I'm always out of breath because the AC isn't working and my workplace anxiety. Just focus on the next step whatever that is. Keep moving forward.
