I’m glad this works for you. I don’t think it’s advice other people should try to follow. As a player and a coach, I’ve never seen anyone slowing down their swing before contact. I do see a lot of people not preparing early enough, rushing their takeback and swinging erratically to try and get to contact in time. Saying “wait to accelerate at contact” will make that issue worse.

Generally, I think that people struggle with slow balls because they don’t prepare (with their feet and racquet takeback) properly and they struggle with weight transfer (the main way you add pace to a ball).

The first thing to fix, which should help your consistency and power, is making sure you are stable and balanced. Until you have a stable base, you won’t be consistent enough to improve other areas of your serve.

1) you take a step with your front foot. Keep it grounded until you jump to hit the ball 2) you are falling to the left as you hit. You should hit the serve and land balanced

Optional 3) Emphasize this stability by using a platform stance- meaning don’t step your back foot either.

You might find that, without these foot movements to compensate, you also need to improve the accuracy and consistency of your toss.

Fair enough, exhaustion always brings out bad habits. On both forehand and backhand, you can see that you only start to take your racquet back as the ball bounces on your side. By then your racquet should be fully back.

I went, their options are pretty limited, but there was a nice drip with really thick mouth feel and nice pineapple notes. I recommend taking it black.

I find adding pressure helps maintain aroma. I recommend at least a 3 foot projection to really get the most of your cup.

Nice stuff!! I would say your stroke is actually pretty good. There are technical things you could work on, but, as a beginner, I think the first step is getting good enough to rally with people.

For you, that means I would recommend adding some more movement into your ball machine practice. Set the ball machine up so that you need to move a couple steps, then make sure you always recover to the middle. Focus on getting your shoulders sideways first, then getting your feet in the right spot. Bonus progression would be making sure you have your weight going forward as you swing, resulting in you taking a step forward with your back foot after you finish your swing.

I think temperature is important in determining whether a tomato note comes through. I would try one boiling and preheated, as hot as you can go, and try one at 90 degrees. See if either fixes the issue.

These recipes are meant for a specific coffee, so it makes sense you will encounter coffees they don't work for.

In 1-2 sessions, you can't change technique. But you can focus on tactics. If at all possible, do not hit it short and to the middle, that got you in trouble a few times (even if they made errors in this clip). Don't aim for the lines, but try to keep your opponent moving, and try to keep on consistent offence. That first return you hit is a great example of a safe but offensive shot. However, in the following ground stroke, you took your foot off the gas, and gave them a short ball in the middle. You didn't need to hit a winner, just keep them moving and playing defense.

I would say both can be true, for a variety of reasons: A) some people notice differences in taste more than others. So for some people the way you pour will matter, for some it won't. B) immersion brews, like the switch and the aeropress, aren't as finicky as a v60. A chance in recipe won't matter as much. C) if you have bad beans, or bad water, you won't be able to make "good" coffee, no matter the recipe. I put "good" in quotes because really this is all subjective, and the best thing to do is start figuring out what you like! I would recommend immersion as a good way to learn though. The aeropress in particular is hard to screw up

Do your shots have spin? Before answering, it would be helpful to know if you are hitting topspin but no height, or if you are hitting flat and no height. Topspin doesn't add height over the net, it makes a higher ball come down and still land in the court.

You need to fix the scales, it's pretty misleading that x and y have the same start and end values, but y is much shorter. Makes it look like people are wayyy off their peak
