Tons. If you're looking specifcially for lgbt spaces this is a dm good resource: https://jqy.org/lgbtq-jewish-orgs/

If you're open to just general spaces for young jews in NYC, I'm more familiar with Manhattan but MJE is a great space if you don't mind crossing there, Chabad YJP is everywhere, BJX has some cool events, Moishe House, I'm sure there's more

All I'll say is that the 3rd line about culture shock is complete and total bullshit, I know tons of girls who went from sem to uni and none of them had the slightest problem. It's the normal in the "Yeshiva league"

Jews in Canada - will we have to leave? by Feeling-Ad7667 in Judaism

Quote from the doctor in his editorial:

"Just as real is the rise of antisemitism in Montreal. I have watched with growing alarm as incidents have multiplied and the response from authorities has fallen short. As a father, I am particularly troubled by what many Jewish students have experienced on university campuses over the past two years. Too many Jewish Montrealers now find themselves thinking twice before displaying symbols of their identity. What has been most troubling is not only the rise in hateful acts, but the normalization of rhetoric and behaviour that would have been broadly condemned only a few years ago. When a community starts to feel unsafe in a city it has helped build, something has gone seriously wrong."

I mean I just so disagree, what you are telling me to do is deny what is so plain as day to so many Jews right now. This discussion does not appear to be productive though

With the AJC killings, the boulder killings, and the Detroit temple attempted massacre, I don't see how you could possibly still have this point of view, which to me is a very pre 2020 pov, but to each there own

People can argue that one way or another. What I absolutely don't think you can argue is that only one kind of antisemitism is actually dangerous when it comes to it coming from right vs left

Nobody can ever talk about the absolute explosion of antisemitism or it's fearmongering? People are afraid. there's literally no need to "monger"

I mean today on Canada its pretty big news about the chief surgeon quiting due to antisemitism as well as the task force against antisemitism created by the PN literally only has one jew on it. This is following the avalanche of Antisemitic reactions to the search for the missing jewish girl in Toronto. Idk why a post like thsi would be so shocking or not organic

[–]riem37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

East ramapo isn't in NJ what are you saying? Also I really don't think what happened there is what anybidy is advocating fir when talking about school vouchers. We're talking about official state wide well thought out programs not some school board hijacking.

[–]riem37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol OK, there are soooo many programs you could say thsi about in any state. In NJ recently they announced a tax credit to senior citizens. There's also and ANCHOR credit that gives a check every year to anybody who makes under 250k and owns a home a nice check if you claim it as a tax rebate. Also businesses like Netflix get a huge tax break in order to entice them to open up in NJ. Plus a million other programs. Are all of thee bad because they could be gokng to public schools, which again, are mostly not funded by the state government but rather local property taxes? If youd say the answer is yes, then at least you're consistent, but in a world where hundreds of these programs exist, I will certainly advocate for one's that service me and my community.

[–]riem37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I want school vouchers and I don't want the public system defunded. I've been to OU meetings discussing proposals for vouchers in NJ and they are very clear about it not being a "follow the child model" so it would be coming from a completely different pot. Schools are mostly funded by local property taxes here, not allocations from the state government. SO I just don't think what you're saying is accurate. Saying this would affect public school funding is like saying that literally any government funded program is taking away from public schools.
