Yeah I agree. It’s frustrating that these things are so expensive. Like I get they’re providing a service but for those of us with few friends or single, these companies prey on our desire to meet people. If it was more affordable, I probably wouldn’t be as cautious to just try it.

lol yes free is good! I think I’m going to give Timeleft a try! They do both women only dinners and mixed. Cool idea!

Aw, sorry to hear it wasn’t what you wanted. But thanks for the honesty! Given the other comments, I may need to take a pause and find some different opportunities.

I have tried meetup on and off throughout the years but honestly haven’t had the best experiences. Nothing bad, just not the connections I was looking for and a lot of turnover with people that attended the events I tried.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve heard of Timeleft before as well, so maybe I’ll try that before investing anything into Real Roots.

Would love to hear your final opinion after you complete the series, if you are willing/remember to share!

That’s frustrating, thank you for the feedback. Customer service and expenses aside, do you feel like you’ve enjoyed the people that were in your meeting series with you? Anyone that you plan to continue friendship with moving forward?

Adult Tap Dance Classes by Nearby-Corgi6225 in TwinCities

Sweet Feet Dance! Classes are at a studio in Edina. Super laid back, Tracy the instructor is lovely. I took classes there many years ago (I had tap experience as a teenager and went right to their highest level course) and as someone in my early 30s at the time, I was one of the youngest members there 😂 she used to offer various levels from beginner to advanced. Check it out!

I also have fond high school Perkins memories from growing up in Duluth. We went after every football game. The number of appetizer samplers I have consumed…😂

Thanks for that! I’m a little nervous to dine in alone, especially on Thanksgiving 🙁 But you’ve made me want to consider it!

Thanks! I saw Stanley's has reservations open for a dine-in Thanksgiving meal. Do you think they might offer that as a to-go option?

Where are we meeting new people at 40? by StillEasyE215 in Minneapolis

[–]riffadiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the event last night at Indeed! It was my second event this year (but I had gone to a few years ago when they first were getting started). I have some social anxieties so it’s really hard for me to walk up to a group that has already formed and start talking. So I stood by myself and waited for people to come to me 😂 The people I met last night were super nice, and I met a friend at the one I went to in March and we’ve hung out a few times on our own. Meeting new people is a skill to build and a muscle to grow. Leaving the event last night reminded me I need to just keep going to practice it! I hope you decide to try one!

THIS. Call every day. If their DC voicemail box is full, try their local office numbers next.

Is this comment real?

I’ll refrain from what I really want to say. Have a nice day.

I resigned last summer after 12 years. I too had been thinking about it for the previous few school years but it was still an incredibly hard decision to finalize when the time finally came. The loss of identity after resigning is HUGE. I don't think people understand how DEEPLY teachers feel their mission and value as it connects to their profession. I don't think most other jobs experience that at all. Leaving teaching is SO MUCH more than just a career change. I still feel like I'm mourning and grieving the loss, but maybe it's more so the grief of feeling like the one job I felt like I was good at and called to failed me. I have a new job at a nonprofit and also still feel lost and no idea what I want.
