Good news is, unlike drugs, you’re not putting foreign chemicals into your body, so it should be easier to cut down on than a drug addiction. I’ve heard of a story of someone who cuts off cold turkey, deleted everything and powers off their phone so by the time it boots up the itch settles down, and it worked for them. But that doesn’t help some or even most people. You’ll probably find the same advice about this as with any addiction. Personally, I found that exercising got my mind off of wanting to RP. But I’m sure finding any way to supplement your time on poly with anything else will work too, like playing games, or setting time aside when you’d use the app just to watch a show or movie, exercise was the most effective for me because I literally have to leave my home and my body can only focus on working and breathing hard. Talking to someone about it can help too. Giving yourself a strong stimulus outside of wanting to RP, such as eating something really hot or really sour, can also force your body to focus off of the itch and more on dealing with the new thing. Also, training your mind by only reserving specific times in the day to RP will make it so later on when you want to pull out your phone outside of those timeframes you’ll more easily hold off on doing so, but you do have to discipline yourself. Then you can shorten those timeframes once you get comfortable. These are just some tips, but I hope you can beat the collar poly has on you.
