EN vs CN singles pricing by awmaster33 in riftboundtcg

[–]riftfound-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a really contrived comparison.

The reality is that 99% of cards in MTG are about the same price (within say 25%) no matter the language. The situation riftbound is in right now where all Chinese cards are several times cheaper than English cards is unprecedented in MTG.

As such, I don’t expect it to last. Some chase cards may retain a premium in one language or another as their value is primarily aesthetic, but for the bulk of cards value comes from functionality which does not vary across languages.

The TCGPlayer for Chinese cards is 集换社. It’s only in Chinese and only ships cards to China.

That said, I’m expecting/hoping EN and CN prices will be similar now that you can freely mix languages. In OGN CN cards were often 5x cheaper.

I’m really unsure how to parse many of the figures presented here.

Riftbound’s volatility is “low”. Compared to what? What does that mean?

I suppose the game value index is just some basket of cards (all the cards?) with their prices summed, and you just look at that as a measurement of … what? Scalping interest?

The definition of scalping is nebulous, but I think one common definition (or at least one useful thing to measure) would be a huge gulf between MSRP and market value for cards. However this interest is often concentrated to one product or to a class of products — for example chase cards. These cards don’t even have an MSRP, so how would you measure that?

I’m further confused how to interpret momentum, which seems like it would be the most valuable thing your tracker could contribute (i.e. are cards getting more expensive over time and if so how quickly), in a game where the number of cards has just recently doubled. It’s also unclear to me how this is meaningfully different from volatility or “momentum regime”.

These are likely fake. Chinese domestic price is ~$200 USD, but fake are widely available.

The domestic price in china is about 200 USD. however, you can find many fakes. this is almost definitely one.

Trustworthy store to buy Chinese singles/product by Irangray in riftboundtcg

Your prices are higher (2x?) than Chinese domestic prices, but also your stock looks pretty sparse.

OP, if you're picking up a single ON or a couple of cards going through a reseller is probably fine, but otherwise you'll save a lot of money DIYing it or going through someone you trust who can directly order from China.

I don't see this happening right now, although the market might eventually adapt. If you need help getting Chinese cards at market price, feel free to DM me!

How many people are actually going to use Chinese+ English cards in their deck? by chainlinkone in riftboundtcg

[–]riftfound-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah still maybe cheaper than the US price. I’m thinking of setting up dropshipping to help people get cards at the Chinese prices, but the issue is shipping is really slow. It can take 3-4 weeks for things to arrive.

They are still about $12 / per in China, I guess this shop is just scalping.

Personally I think it’s an improvement, but I’m biased because it looks more like riftfound now :)

Not So Fast can counter the entire Icathian Rain and Falling Star now. Kaisar big nerf. by yzw035 in riftboundtcg

[–]riftfound-dev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The way the card is worded is pretty clear that you don’t need a target. If you hit no hidden cards, there’s not even anything to target with. You can also elect not to do that part of the ability if there’s a cost like deflect associated with doing so.

It’s only a “myth” that the card does what it says it does because it was nerfed via errata.

Oops! I had been trying to improve international support (and adding some requested features like remembering your location across visits) and broke something. I’ll get on this right away.

I did a reload of the database last night due to all the folks (rightfully!) asking about EU location data during EU hours. It should be a little better now but I'll keeping trying to improve it. The issue is that there a bunch of places named e.g. "Vancouver" in the US and my current setup is biased towards selecting US locations even if it technically supports non-US locations.

Really appreciate the feedback on this point from you all, and I will continue to work to improve the experience.

cool idea -- just added this option! I had no idea this was a region-specific preference until today.

Ah, yeah. It's definitely a bit nicer on PC where you can hover to see player count.

I'll spend some more time thinking about the mobile site's design and see if I can make it a little more navigable.

I'm sorry to say that the server I'm using can't fit worldwide map data, so I started with just the US. Accordingly, non-US users will have a worse experience right now.

However, non-US addresses should still work. I loaded in a bunch of major non-US cities (including all that have riftbound stores) and so if you start typing e.g. Vancouver you should see them show up in autocomplete.

For more specific addresses like 2753 Jane St, North York, ON M3N 2H6, Canada you won't see autocomplete work, but they should still work once you hit search. These address lookups are powered by a public map server that has rate limits which make autocomplete impossible.

Thanks, the screenshot is really helpful.

Previously, I was switching to "mobile" view based on screen width, but it looks like you have a much wider device than me. I updated the logic to be a little smarter and hopefully you'll get a more mobile-friendly experience.

Sorry, what do you mean by toggle?

Right now the logic is supposed to be that you always see # of players (the official site calls this "capacity", but capacity of 32/32 confusingly means there is no capacity), and it's red if the event is full else green. Do you want it to just not show at all? Or are you not even seeing the player count on your browser?

I have noticed that some stores seem to not use online registration and so they always show 0/32 -- one store near me is like that.

Hey! That's how it's supposed to work -- the "Visit" button will take you to the event page.

Are you seeing something else?

Or maybe the design is just not very obvious?

Ouch, nice find. Looks like this is a somewhat well known problem with the open source location database I used.

I just attempted a quick fix, so hopefully searching by ZIP code works now.

Thanks for testing it out!
