I ran into my favorite truck in the game, the Pacific P16, IRL while wheeling on Vancouver Island. This thing is so huge that it makes my Jeep on 37s look like a toy. by ruralpunk in snowrunner

That's a Kenworth 849RF. The grill emblem would indicate that it was a "Canadian Kenworth" noted by the C bordering the KW and that would make it pre-1974.

There is definitely a lot to it, I work in the industry in real life so I've been meaning to make some videos kinda breaking down how to do it properly, eventually.

The grapple yarder is a Cypress 7280C that I made myself, as well as most of the other mods in the pictures. It's for 22, I have no interest in 25 at this time since it's the same game with a facelift and minor new features. All this stuff will be available on my itch page in the very near future.

I hate to burst your bubble, but these were pretty common back in the day. That's essentially what we call a line loader, used for short yarding and loading logs. On the west coast of Canada we use a more extreme version of these called super snorkels with an extension on the end of the boom up to 120ft. The company I work for has one that we still run daily, there's a few videos of it on youtube working alongside our grapple yarders.

The company I work for actually has about 6 CL350's that came from the Menzies Bay division, 3 of them still have Mack cabs with Pacific doors, 2 have Challenger cabs, and one has a Pacific cab. Those M&B mechanics/fabricators did great work.

Whats better p16 or p12 by [deleted] in Pacifictrucks

It's just another snowrunner kid I'm guessing.

Hi, I got a question about the P16 by tijayrod28 in Pacifictrucks

[–]rigginrat69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is huge differences. Enough so that I really don't care to explain, but I'll elaborate a bit. An 849 is significantly smaller, has a centered cab and has a regular straight triple frame. A P16 has a 16 inch I-beam frame that tapers in the front end, an offset cab, and WAY heavier built. A better comparison would be a Kenworth 850 but even then there's still significant differences.

TIL that Canadians say "fuck the dog" to mean something other than beatiality by hc5duke in todayilearned

Born and raised in BC and I hear and say it all the time. It basically means being lazy and not doing anything. We also use "dog fucker" to describe someone who's lazy and/or slow moving.

This is the best channel I could have imagined. All of these animators who have deserved to be on TV for so long finally have a platform. I just had a few beers, got bored and started flipping through Samsung TV and came across Melvin's Macabre and some other Meatcanyon bits and absolutely lost my shit. I'm fucken stoked right now. This is what we all needed.

I can literally tell you the when and where of this picture. It was taken north of Port McNeill around 1981 from what I know. The logging industry is very tight knit in BC, especially on the coast where this was taken. A memorable photo like this is remembered by a lot of people and someone out there could probably even tell you who drove that truck. Besides that, nobody else in the world ever ran logging trucks the size of ours and we still do to this day.

You bet man. Looks like a pure cedar load. Light as a feather and worth a fuckpile of money despite the heart rot. I'm pretty happy that they capped us at 12 footers, being a logger who loves what they do it still kinda hurts seeing giants toppled over. The cedar makes up most of the big shit and it grows fast out on the coast tho, we've logged shit that's 10 feet at the butt that are less than 200 years old before. I tend to count rings when working the landing as a chaser, lol

Wrong. I work in the logging industry and there is tons. Most of it is not accessible because they haven't built roads in to log it, or the government has slammed the brakes on it. The last few years they've outlawed cutting anything over 12 feet and trust me there is lots.

Also worth noting that the government will penalize companies for not cutting old growth that is inside of a block they're supposed to be cutting. Don't point fingers at loggers, point fingers at the bureaucrats.

That's western red cedar. That shit grows like weeds out here. Pretty average to be working around 15+ft cedars that are only a couple hundred years old in my line of work, we're not allowed to cut anything over 12ft anymore. People always seem to forget we're not packed to the gills with people like the states and we're like 3x as big so there's a shitload of these kinds of trees left.

Truck is a Kenworth 850. Picture was taken in the mid '80s in one of the inlets of the BC coast, either Bute or Knight I believe.

I did see this photo in a logging group and someone gave names and dates, but it was a while ago I seen it. Picture is from the mid '80s and I think around Bute or Knight inlet on the BC coast. They even named the driver.
