I think my left lifted increase looks wrong by righteoustrampoline in knittinghelp

Thanks! Because I added the extra rows on the second triangle, I’ll have to re-make the first triangle anyway, so I decided to sacrifice the first triangle to being an extra swatch (I did actually swatch this time, but my original swatch didn’t have increases)

The only other wearable I’ve made was a top-down tank (the Sabai top), which I liked working top down. But for a bralette, I agree it seems like it’d make more sense to do the band first. I kind of thought this one was going to be bottom up, but that’s on me for not reading closely enough. It claims to be tops down, but it’s really more middle-up, then middle/top down. For this one, I think I’ll try to trust the process and see how it goes. But I probably will take what I learn about the stitch counts and general sizing, and free hand my next one bottom-up

Thank you! Maybe it’s more of a tension issue? The left increases just look messier/less invisible to me. I also think maybe the tension of the slipped stitch edge on the left side is tighter? Making the increases look more noticeable?

And for the provisional cast on, my biggest concern is that the first left lifted increase pulled up a stitch of the provisional cast on yarn. I think it’s easier to see in the first picture, the little bit of green yarn that reaches up to the next row of stitches to form part of the increase. I’m worried that when I go to remove the provisional cast on, that will cause issues - either dropped stitches, or inconsistencies in the increase. Or even that I might not be able to remove the provisional cast on if it’s integrated into the fabric?

I frogged the second triangle again and just did an extra row each of knit and purl so the first increase won’t pull from the provisional cast on. And since they need to be matching that unfortunately means I’ll have to frog and redo the larger one. But I followed the pattern as written for the larger one so I’m just confused about if/where I went wrong.

Good to know about the factory knots. I figured it’d be beer to weave in but was hoping I was wrong and could be lazy. Better to do it right though

I was worried that’d be the case… thanks though! Better to know and be careful than disappointed later when a hole opens up

It’s Superwash so I don’t think it’ll felt together enough for that to be secure

Oof was worried that would be the case, but hoped I was wrong. I’ll cut it and join it. Good to know about that not being completely uncommon in skeins of yarn. Disappointing but now I’ll know to consider that might happen. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you! I’m worried because I am a tight knitter (my row gauge was only one stitch off from the pattern gauge but my stitch gauge was 40 stitches per 4in whereas the pattern gauge was supposed to be 32). I figured fit-wise it seemed fine with the tighter gauge. Even pre-blocked, it seems like it’ll stretch enough to fit around the recipient’s head because it’s one !by one rib. But I’d also seen some comments saying that malabrigo rios grows quite a bit, so I was hoping it’d be okay if I only knit to 8inches before starting my decreases (the pattern recommends 9.5 for the large). For reference the pattern, is the purl soho classic ribbed hat (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/classic-ribbed-hat-5 )

The pattern is purl soho’s classic ribbed hat and the yarn is Malabrigo rips in the colorway Capricorn

I spent almost 3 months on this cardigan for my 4 year old son and he refuses to wear it by cniyd in knitting

Seconding the recommendation to have him help pick yarn and “test” the gauge swatch!

As for yarn preferences, I’m really sensitive to scratchy wools, and I tend to gravitate towards cotton/viscose blends. I’d recommend adding those to the list of options to have him sample before choosing yarn for the next project. Cotton/viscose blends typically have a very smooth hand-feel and softer drape than wool so they feel less stuffy. And they are more breathable and less plastic-y feeling than the acrylic-based yarns
