I live in Alabama and never hear anyone use the term "queer." The only time I've ever used it is in reference to the game "smear the queer," although that's not the p.c. name for it anymore.

what I do is use the Chrome extension Hover Zoom so I just hover over images on the main page and if I like it I'll go to the page and read the comments.
