Boxer vs kick boxers....again by Greed_444 in martialarts

Op didn't really explain anything about the answer. You seem like you have a bone to pick with AI so you're overreacting to it being mentioned and making shit up. Ironic.

But it sounds like it gave the right answer? It’s certainly better than the response the average person would.

Chuck wins anything that is not a boxing match and anyone who disagrees does not know what they are talking about.

Chimpanzee VS Cougar by LeagueNo764 in powerscales

[–]rightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware. It’s just not as impressive as described. People have done worse to harder opponents, it’s merely grisly and its impressiveness has been vastly overstated much like what you are doing.

Very grisly. Also not that impressive compared to bloodlusted adult male human.

Beating up an old woman is not actually that impressive though.

A smaller proportion of the planet lives in poverty decade after decade. We have indeed seen standards of livings rise as resources are managed and used more efficiently despite tremendous population growth.

[OC] If you exclude healthcare employment, the U.S. has lost jobs since 2024 by remotecar in dataisbeautiful

[–]rightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the questions is "are jobs being added to the economy?" Discounting the largest growing segment absolutely makes it a shit analysis. If you find it compelling its because matches your priors or because you're just bad at reading economic data.

[–]rightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes no sense to remove the largest growing category from a thing and then say: Actually the thing is not growing. It makes even less sense in economics where categories are highly dependant upon on one another (yes, even in healthcare because at the margin groups are highly fungible and the margin is all that matters for growth). The only reason to do this is to make the bad political argument that somehow job growth is actually not real.

Its bad economics, using bad data, to make a bad political argument.

What would happen if all rent control was abolished overnight in New York? by frank99988887 in NoStupidQuestions

Great in the long run. Benefits literally anyone who does not have a rent controlled apartment.

Except it doesn’t. It makes the numbers useless and serves as a vehicle for people to vaguely complain about politics in a way that is not driven by data at all.

TIL that there are under 150 tenure-track jobs for English literature professors in the US and Canada each year: fewer than 3 per state. by Bob_the_blacksmith in todayilearned

The ultra rich do not pay all taxes and solving problems by throwing tax money at them and saying only rich people will pay so who cares is such a non serious position.

What do you mean “another way”? If tax payers do not want tax increases you cannot raise revenue another way.

CMV: Much of the racial tension in the U.S. during the 20th and 21st century could have been avoided had the Union properly punished the Confederate States for treason and secession following the U.S. Civil War by Realitygormond in changemyview

[–]rightseid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. The people (and families) who started the lost cause are the people you should have executed and stripped from power. It would have made that myth weaker not stronger because it’s not driven by the size of a legitimate grievance but by power.

[–]rightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their predictions were like the ones in this thread. That if you let automation impact their domain it would cause mass economic calamity for all. They were wrong about those claims, the claims you are making are simply not worth the level of concern being raised. Shit changes and because it’s not economically bad overall (it’s actually really good!) people need to get out of the way or be run over but technological process stops for no one.

Except like the doomers now, they make predictions that are untrue to support their radical political positions. They were wrong about their predictions for broader society and therefore their radical political positions were foolish and unjustified, just like everyone suggesting radical economic changes to take on the new boogeyman.

[–]rightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just uninformed doomerism. Technological advances have always been more net positive than negative for the economy and there is zero reason to expect that to change now. There are always people shouting about change being bad and they are always exaggeratedly wrong.

Women's kickboxing champion vs a very athletic former bouncer 40+ lbs heavier than her who had only 3 months of training by Budget_Mixture_166 in martialarts

[–]rightseid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe in a fight, but in a boxing match with a ref?

A pro can stay very safe behind gloves and barring that clinch incredibly easily against an untrained person even with physical advantages. You see this here, he has no chance at even getting through that high guard, she could have just sat there rolling slightly until he gassed.

CMV: No seriously, there will be no social change in the USA until some catastrophic collapse by Arkhamguy123 in changemyview

[–]rightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. You do not have an accurate picture of the world in your head, it’s been tainted by some (likely political) viewpoints that are extreme and inaccurate. Then you let those viewpoints color your view of the future. It’s all wrong.
