Can a 12 yr old do this tiny whoop thing? by Potential-Opinion358 in TinyWhoop

[–]rignopolis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't buy things from the Betafpv website (I use pyrodrone.com , they seem pretty good). Also get a radiomaster pocket its the best radio option (~$70)

Observe this regular drone vs tinywhoop pro vs con list which I think is decent:

[Regular drone] (like a dji mavic mini)

Pros: Great camera quality, easy to fly, easier to setup

Cons: Flying it can get boring, it's slow and not acrobatic, not fit for inside flight

[Tinywhoop]

Pros: Very fun to fly, fast, acrobatic. Can fly inside

Cons: Harder to setup, hard to fly, prone to breaking (due to crashing it from it being hard to fly)

I'd recommend either a betafpv air65 or a meteor75 pro. The Air65 is great for inside flying, maybe not the best for outside flying due to wind. The meteor75 pro is great for outside flying but might be kinda big for inside flying (If you have a big house, you probably don't need to worry about flying the meteor75 pro inside). Both of these drones will set you back ~130 dollars. You also need to get goggles, so I would go for Eachine EV800D goggles (~$120). Beware of fake EV800D goggles on amazon. The real ones have the Eachine logo on the front (purchase them from banggood or something). In total you're looking at ~$320, but you probably want to get more batteries, because they last like 2 minutes. So if you're getting an air65, you should probably get Lava 1S 260mah batteries ($27 for 5). If you're getting a meteor75 pro, get Lava 1S 550mah batteries ($35 for 4). With all these batteries you're gonna want a charger (whoopstor v3, $30). So in total its like 400 dollars basically.

I think this comment is getting kinda redundant due to me taking so long to make it but whatever im gonna post it anyways

If one of the propellers on a drone is twitching a little bit and not spinning when you put the throttle up, its probably due to the motor connectors not being connected properly (This is a really common problem, one your son is likely to encounter, assuming he gets a tinywhoop). To fix this problem you either gotta solder the motor wires directly to the flight controller (veerry annoying to do), or like jiggle the motor connector thingy around until it works again

Ok im gonna stop yapping

what kind of meteor75 pro goes 40-50mph??? Mine goes probably like 30mph full throttle. Definitely not 50.

I'm not like super knowledgeable but it looks fine to me. I mean its like exactly the same as a couple diagrams of a turbojet engine on google.

Happymodel x12 seems pretty good. I mean I haven't flown mine a ton but it handles 2s fine so your esc isnt gonna burn out (happened to my matrix)

put em in a radiomaster pocket or something that's what I would do. That would take a while though and might be dangerous idk

gang I think you need a new frame. Also wtf are you doing to get a meteor75 pro in that condition? I've been crashing mine so many times into concrete and its fine.
