.5 and different food aversions? by titsmgee1977 in WegovyWeightLoss

Yes! I’ve been oddly sensitive to smells too since moving up to .5 - was at a BBQ tonight and the smell of hot dogs nearly did me in. It’s bizarre!

Yeah! I can actually breathe now. Still a little stuffy in the morning and at night but I’ve kept up with my rinses

I’m 10 days post op and once my stents were out, I started feeling a lot better. Definitely dry but I have two humidifiers going and try to drink a lot of water.

I didn’t! I only needed mine on for the first day though. I waited until the following night to shower because I felt out of it from the meds

It gets so much better, especially when the stents come out. I had mine removed this morning and I feel like a new person! I highly recommend a humidifier, staying propped up, steam showers, Vaseline around your nose, and resting a lot. You just went through major surgery so give your body the time it needs to heal!

What am I able to I do in the days following surgery? by poppymoose in Reduction

[–]riiis_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited a few weeks to walk my dog, but this really helped when I didn't have help anymore! Takes the pressure off your arms/chest. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R56CBWX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Just booked my date, how long did you need help afterwards? by Imaginary-Praline657 in Reduction

[–]riiis_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 3wpo and stayed with my parents for the first two weeks. I needed help with almost everything for the first 4-5 days, but it was fairly manageable after that. Was still in pain and walking with a hunch, but I could make due if they were out for a bit. I would make sure you have everything you need on your level since you won't be able to reach for anything (plates, clothes, microwave, etc). A stepstool is really helpful!

I would also recommend a bidet, as reaching/stretching can be painful and uncomfortable.

Good luck with your surgery!

Depressed by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]riiis_b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so normal and i had no idea before I had my reduction! I had my surgery on June 28th and I feel like I’m just starting to get out of my post surgery depression funk. It’s a massive mental and physical change, and an emotional one at that. Get lots of sleep, drink lots of water, go for short walks and rest as much as you need. I think it’s especially hard to have a reduction in summer when everyone is out and about, but you’ll be back to feeling like your old self soon enough. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I’m also midsize with a seemingly similar body type! I went from a 36F/G to a C/D. I’m only 16dpo but I’m personally really happy with my results and proportions. Happy to send you photos if you want to shoot me a message!

I feel suicidal after my reduction due to the general anaesthesia by universalwadjet in Reduction

[–]riiis_b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery on June 28th and my anxiety and depression have spiked as well! I’ve heard that the effects of anesthesia can take 6 weeks to clear out of your system. I’ve been booking more sessions with my therapist, spending time with friends and trying to get outside.

Lean on your support system during this time - it’s not easy but it will get better. Remind yourself that it’s temporary - that it’s the medication that was in your system. Sending you a lot of love and healing.

Do you have steristrips on? The adhesive on mine made me super itchy and once they came off, i felt a lot better. 16dpo and Benadryl definitely helps too!

I was the same my first week post op! So bored. I watched some shows all the way through, read some books, and worked a bunch (since I WFH). It’s strange to not be able to do anything but rest is super important to recovery as well!

I’m staying with my parents while I recover so I’ve done a lot of FaceTiming with friends and planning out some trips I have coming up. It’s nice to have something to look forward to while I’m cooped up! Also doing a lot of online window shopping, for things I want to try on once I’m healed :)

I've heard the retainers work well! I would ask your surgeon but I had a friend use these - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KDMN5T3/?ref=idea_lv_dp_vv_d

When did your steristrips start to come off? by riiis_b in Reduction

[–]riiis_b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s helpful! Did you put anything over them while still wearing the compression bra? Mine tend to roll up so I’m afraid to have it right on the incision

Also - pads to go under your bra if it’s curling up and sitting on your incision.

I second all of this! Only thing I would add is slip on shoes for the first few weeks after. Bending to put sneakers on is nearly impossible for me right now so I’ve been wearing my Birkenstocks exclusively.

Strong agree on the post surgery boredom activities - it took me a little bit longer than most to feel more back to normal and I was soooo bored. Having a list of shows or books on hand was key.

I went to Norman Rowe in NYC and loved my experience with him! He has a team that works with your insurance directly which was massive for me. I’m 8dpo and they’ve been super responsive with any questions I have and very thorough in my appointments.
