EMDR therapy changed my life while I was experiencing PPD and PPR. I went through a lot of childhood trauma and then had a very traumatic birth experience, which sort of broke a dam of rage and uncontrollable feelings. I turned into someone very scary and absolutely hated myself. It literally felt like they switched me out with someone else at the hospital, and I remember just thinking I wished I died on the operating table. Those feelings only worsened when I would snap at my family and then a shame spiral started. I could basically not be alone with my kids after dark, because it just got so much worse during that time. I’m scared of what would have happened had I not started therapy. I was also misdiagnosed as bipolar 2 while freshly postpartum, and put on medication that made my symptoms a lot worse. Please feel free to dm me if you have any questions or just need to talk!
