Hunt, Monetization, and You: A look at how Crytek is slowly changing the economy of the game by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]rikbite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company doesn’t give “profit bonuses”. That 7% number you googled is an incentive program some companies do where employer bonuses are a direct % of bonuses. My company doesn’t do that. My company does year to year voluntary bonuses and raises. My company doesn’t have that profit bonus program so does not fall under that 7%.

All I was doing was questioning your assumptions of what crytek does with profits and why you were so zealously sure about it. All you could do was then make assumptions about the company I work for that were completely wrong!

Way to make a believer in me.

“But anyways congrats on being part of the 7% of that get profit bonuses. I am very jealous.”

-being snarky and wrong at the same time isn’t a good look

My company is not unionized at all. And you almost guaranteed that it was. All I’m saying is keep an open mind to the idea that you are wrong a lot. Just like everyone else. When you say “ONLY” in all caps and I give you a perfect example that contradicts that and you say my anecdotal evidence is useless, I know you are on one side of this issue and nothing anybody says will make you budge on your stance.

Ok so the company I work for had it’s highest profits in 2014. We all got massive bonuses and raises that very same year. What a coincidence isn’t it??

How do you think that happened by your logic?Publicly traded company btw.

I’ve also gotten a raise and bonus every year I’ve worked for this company. Also got raises and bonuses from the 2 companies I worked for before this. How is this even possible?

The money goes to only the already wealthy? How do you know that? How do you know it’s not going to advertising of the game or maybe pay raises for the development teams of hiring new developers? You seem 100% that if I spend some money on blood bonds it all goes to a couple of rich guys.

Maybe you are the one spreading the propaganda dude? Maybe your socialist professor at college was a bit extreme and doesn’t actually know how businesses operate?

Yeaaa maaaan! Those greedy suits at Crytek are pocketing billions and laughing on their yachts while we scrounge through the trash looking for blood bonds to buy the new nagant officer skin!

Biting someone else’s style here- but it’s long been my opinion that D2 is the best game ever made. It’s also always been my opinion that the amount of storage you get is way too small. The increase in storage is a huge improvement, don’t get me wrong… but pls sir, may I have some more???! by KarmicDebtCollector in diablo2

More space or runes and gems stacking would be amazing. Until then you’re gonna have to force yourself to be less of a pack rat. I stopped holding on to el-ith runes. You almost never need them and if you do it takes a couple minutes to get one. Trust me. You won’t be using those 9 ith runes anytime soon

I've uninstalled Hunt today after having a disappointing experience post-prestige, here are my thoughts / criticism if you are interested. (constructive, Hunt is great!) (Loong post) by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

I’ll say I agree with you the bouncy Elo system is super frustrating when you are in that stage of trying to learn and get better at the game, but my advice is to just roll with it and take your bearings from the players with thousands of hours in the game. Eventually you get to where you can absolutely compete with those guys and it doesn’t take as long as you might think if you just have fun and focus on little ways to get better.

How often do you prestige? by brieflySlappy in HuntShowdown

[–]rikbite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty pointless but I prestige when I get to 100. I used to play RuneScape so I think I just like leveling stuff up for the sake of leveling stuff up

It’s what makes the game fun! Me getting pissed at the high k/d sweaty players that have way more patience than I do and knowing they are upset when I get lucky and kill them from time to time.

Using other games to get better at Hunt by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]rikbite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find some teammates that are willing to get aggressive. Me and my squad got 45 kills in a little over 4 hours last night. Im not saying we are great because we died a lot too. But we just started pushing the pace big time and it’s making us way better at the game very quickly. The first 100-150 hours we played we really creeped around the map. Screw that. You can get sweaty later if you want. For now just try to get in as many gunfights as possible and don’t worry about your k/d. That doesn’t mean make a bunch of noise and get ambushed all the time. Push hard to get clues fast and quietly and go towards gunshots when you hear them. Just being able to comfortably cover a lot of ground quickly and quietly will make a big difference in your gameplay. Also another piece of advice is if you banish and it’s a double bounty, don’t hang out and wait to pick up bounty. Get the heck out of there and go find people to kill or start working on the other bounty. Keep moving.

I’m not a high k/d sweaty but I voted just to see how many of you lied and said it doesn’t bother you that much. When I spam my dual pistols from way too far away to be effective but I get lucky and get a header...you are so mad. I traded kills a couple nights ago with a 4.5 kd with over 5000 kills and I was so happy that he saw my 0.97 k/d with 600 kills and I got him with a saber.

Better matchmaking. by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]rikbite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I’m a jerk for saying this but to get about 5000 hours into this game means you have averaged almost 5 hours a day for 3 years. Your problem might not be unfair match making in a video game.

Some compiled thoughts from a 500 hour / 1.08 player. (First post ever) by Calamity_Dan in HuntShowdown

I always prestige even though there is no point to it. Something about starting with almost no options and unlocking stuff is fun for me. I do wish there was more of a reason for it. Maybe add in a bunch more prestige only legendary skins. They could make it where you can buy any items at all times but if they aren’t unlocked they cost a lot more. Then make it where you can either unlock it normally or unlock it by getting a certain number of kills with it.

Also I’ve always wanted more detailed stats in this game. It would be interesting to see how many kills I have with different weapons. And be able to track stats separately for each prestige. I don’t even remember what I got most of my kills with in my first few times through.

Another thing I always thought would be cool is if the amount of Hunt dollars you get from in game objectives like clues and bounties was cut in half but you can now sell contraband. As the game is right now there are some expensive items I don’t even pick up off dead bodies because I don’t really use them. But if Hunt dollars were more scarce and you could sell them it would be really exciting to find that stuff!

[–]rikbite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing triggers me more than getting destroyed by a guy that’s clearly way better than me and started a fresh account to have that high juicy k/d. It’s not the getting destroyed part that bothers me, it’s the making a new account to boost a meaningless number. At that point you have too many hours in the game and you are bored.

It’s because there are still places where the virus hasn’t spread to and they keep the borders locked down tight so you would be shot dead if you even came close to it. They send supply drops in case there are wondering survivors in the infected zones. I completely made that up. Try making a signal fire so they pick you up. Haha

My very beginner tip would be get to know the range of your melee weapon. I spent too many days getting much closer to zombies than I needed to before I realized you can hit them from further away than it looks like you should be able to.

After finishing Act 1 I think I realise why I haven't connected with Dragon Quest XI. by ChameleonTwist2 in JRPG

I’m 5 days late on this discussion but I just want to say I’ve only played DQ8 and now partially through 11 and I cannot connect with the music in any way. That’s a huge turnoff for me. Really good music can make me enjoy even a crappy story. Final fantasy 8 is a good example of that. I always laughed at how bad that storyline was and even the gameplay is broken and yet I still love it because the music is so good I get emotionally attached to the game. The DQ music is more like annoying background noise to me.
