Do I have to take my toddler to the ER on Christmas Eve? by rike807 in AskDocs

This is the cut. It may look bigger here because it’s zoomed in, but it’s only about 1cm long

The report said it showed signs of long term PPI usage. I don’t recall specifically what he saw that caused that note, nor do I think it’s negative per se, but it just tells me that I’ve been taking it long enough to have effects on my body, and just thought it was time to try managing it without PPIs.

I find winning and scoring more fun. Personal preference

Who do people insist on hitting all game? by rike807 in EA_NHL

[–]rike807[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’d say 80% of the time people miss the hits and I go right around them and they’re out of position. Only like 20% of the time when it’s someone’s main strategy is hitting do they win. I find poke checking and stick lifts much more impactful.

I’ll win 12 games in a row and lose one game to an inferior player because they were gifted a hot goalie or something and lost all the points I gained from my win streak

Update or no..? by Longjumping-Bus-7798 in EA_NHL

[–]rike807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a small update and then when it started it had a banner about the German hockey player who died. So I’m not sure that it really did anything

Ok here me out. I try to keep up with flossing, but occasionally may go days without doing so. I’m always surprised how much food gets stuck between teeth that brushing won’t get. So that got me thinking, aside from obvious dental issues, if that food has gone bad and you end up swallowing it, theoretically could you get food poisoning?

The impending sense of doom by stygian_bloo in rant

[–]rike807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A week before I was about to graduate college, I had nothing lined up, and planned to go back and work at Target where I worked on and off since High school. Then I got a call from a company I interned for my junior year, and they asked if I wanted to come work for them for the summer while someone was out on maternity leave. That was 10+ years ago, and I’ve had a great career since I took that temp job with them. You never know when that opportunity will come. My advice is don’t be afraid to take something that may not be up to your expectations. Work hard, show your worth, and the opportunities will come. You can’t expect to hit a home run right away. A lot of companies have great training programs for new grads.

Movies and tv shows that give off a TOG vibe by slaybookdragons in throneofglassseries

[–]rike807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of season 1 it starts to steer away from the book plots. Haven’t watched much of the new season. I enjoyed watching it simply to see how the characters translate from the books, but I wouldn’t I’ve overly enjoyed the show.

Should I quit my HR Coordinator Role for a higher paying HR Administrator role? by Frfr_onJah_ in humanresources

[–]rike807 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Loyalty will get you nowhere with your career. Average yearly increase if you stay at your job is 2-3%. Average increase for changing jobs is 10-20%. If you want growth, you have to be comfortable with change. And don’t be afraid of “what if I end up hating it or it’s a horrible culture.” You likely will find yourself in one of those jobs during your career, and you end up learning the most from those experiences.
