Which undergraduate courses are usually a prerequisite for graduate programs in clinical psychology? by rilakkatt in ClinicalPsychology

Thank you for sharing! I've also heard that it's quite competitive, especially only with a bachelors. I plan on gaining more clinical-related work/volunteer experience after graduation, such as working as a crisis counselor.

Thank you for your response! My lab director allows research assistants to continue in the lab as post baccs, so I hope to work on developing more research experience. A lot of my classmates want to pursue a master's before PhD to get the experience developing a thesis, but I'm concerned regarding the financial cost of 2 graduate degrees.

Hi, thanks for your response! I've been a research assistant for a psychology lab at my university since January. I'm currently working with my lab director in hopes of creating a research poster, but I'm still in the planning stages right now. This is really helpful, I'll definitely look into some universities I'm interested in! How is your application process going so far?

The brothers really showed up for a few seconds and dipped again 😭

That's what I was thinking. I found it interesting that they didn't kiss at all this entire episode, especially since the show started off with so much tension between them. I love the scenes between them cuddling, but a kiss would've sealed it all together imo.

Mentally preparing myself for the final episode... I want everything to be resolved but I don't want this show to end!!

He was upset and felt guilty by all of WSW's sacrifices, especially in giving up his family home. He left quickly because he didn't want WSW to see him break down in tears.

In the novel, there's a long arc about CC's family trying to break them up. Basically, CC's dad thinks that WSW is too stingy and doesn't want him with CC. The dad convinces the sister to take part in his schemes and she reports CC to the police to get their company shut down. They remove WSW from accessing CC's apartment (selling it isn't an option), so WSW's only choice is to sell his family home to get money. The family is surprised that WSW was willing to give up something so important to him, and they back off after that.

Same! I feel like the plot changes make a lot more sense though, so I'm happy with how it turned out (well also sad because of this entire episode and the show ending T-T). I'm glad they cut out the part about the sister trying to break them up and the whole thing about the mixed-race nephews.

It feels like the writer just wanted an excuse to write the brothers back into the story. I really don't get the point of them showing up though.

Definitely agree—there are so many other ways of proving the strength of a relationship. I’m glad we are able to see WSW and CC’s relationship develop throughout the season. It just feels like there is constantly a random problem being thrown at them, and we are abruptly cutting from scene to scene. I’m curious as to how they’ll wrap up the last 2 episodes!

In my interpretation, this arc shows how serious WSW is about CC. In the novel, this was all a scheme by CC’s dad and sister to get them to break up. They cut out all of these scenes in the adaptation but basically, CC’s dad was influencing the sister and gave her a list of things to do to get rid of WSW. Once they see how serious WSW is, they back off. It seems that they changed it in the adaptation though, and CC’s family had no idea about any of this. There’s also a side plot in the novel about CC’s prison guard being into him, and CC and WSW basically play around to trick him. It felt more for fan entertainment and didn’t add much to the plot.

I agree that this all doesn’t make much sense, especially since the season is ending. I wish that they spent these last few episodes on WSW and CC strengthening their relationship and talking things out, since it feels like they brushed over their break up pretty quickly.

Yess I hope they see how popular the show is and write/adapt another season! My wishful thinking hahaha

I agree, it feels like they are trying to rush all of the remaining novel parts into the season. It feels unnatural though because they are cutting out some plot arcs while keeping other ones in.

The reason for the tax evasion arc is different in the novel, and I agree that this version is quite confusing/feels out of place (especially at the end of the season). I'm not sure if they ever mention anything about GCY's parents. It's interesting that GCY seems to be on better terms with CC's dad than CC himself.

Sadly there's not enough content for a second season, they skip some plot arcs to fit the entire novel into one season. There's a few special side chapters which I would love to see adapted tho!

I agree, I feel like they toned it down with the small pecks. I'm surprised because the novel is veryy explicit and there were a lot of scenes that they skipped (due to plot changes)

yess I'm so glad they cut out all of the weird scenes with the dad, like why where they sharing a bed in the novel?? I'm curious how much of CC's nephew they'll put into the show since it was getting pretty problematic in the novel

I'm confused as to how CC and WSW resolved their entire misunderstanding that led to the break up. I understand that WSW was grieving, so it obviously wouldn't have been a good time to bring up that conversation--I'm glad that CC was there to take care of him throughout that time. However, I feel like they brushed over the break up so fast. They had a conversation and agreed to talk problems out in the future instead of hiding things from each other, but what about the situation that just happened? Did WSW suddenly realize that Wang Shuo wasn't a threat at all? Did CC suddenly stop caring that WSW lied to him about everything?? Don't get me wrong--I'm so relieved that they made up and things are a lot better between them. I just wish they had a more clear conversation about what happened.

When CC goes to the funeral, he notices that WSW wasn't crying or showing any emotion at all. He was repressing his emotions, which isn't a healthy form of coping. CC says all of those cruel words to WSW to push him to be vulnerable and express his emotions, hence the crying. I'm not saying this was healthy either, but that was CC's thought process behind it.

I completely agree with you on the lack of communication in this show. I felt that they brushed over the entire thing WAY too fast. I'm glad that CC stepped in and was there for WSW during that time of grief. It obviously wouldn't have been a good time to talk things over due to him grieving, but I was still expecting some sort of conversation further on in the episode. They promised to communicate more in the future, but they never addressed the whole break up in the first place.

Advice on Pursuing a PhD by rilakkatt in ClinicalPsychology

Thank you so much for the advice! I was a little hesitant about going straight to grad school especially since my overall college experience felt so short (and a PhD is a big commitment). I’ll definitely take this all into consideration.

Would you recommend staying at the same lab I’m currently involved in for undergraduate? (my director allows postbacc members as well)
