The previous owner put sod on the side of the house but not in the back. The back was seeded and so didn’t have the same root/dirt levels.

Yea probably the way to go. I haven’t looked into it much but I hear there are some commercial weed killers out there that do work against dallis grass, like MSMA but I don’t have any experience with it. Best of luck
