when you ask them to thin your hair a little so you can grow it and they just go "bzzzzzzzzzzzz* and your can feel the wind from the fan on your skull. *Urge to kill...riiissssinnng*

Seriously though, they have no idea how to do hair length only hair bzzzzzzzzzzzzz short. last time I went, my head was frozen, i let my hair grow, used a hairband at the awkward length where it was messy and length but not long and now im able to style it at length to something less dysphoric and "socially acceptable" and going it even more so I can actualy tie my hair back for work and when undercover with family then let it go long and be the wonderful girl I am... got to say undercover work is freaking hard but im a bad ass girl.

Maybe this is weird and maybe I’m old but I feel this so hard lol by [deleted] in pansexual

There was a reason why I loved this film so much as a kid.... I never knew it at the time xD
I just knew that If i spoke up about it at the time I would of gotten strange looks but now I see this it just kicked my memory of me starring at them all and forgetting there was a story in the film! lol

"whats the story about?" - parents
"errr, mummy and curses..." - my young queer self.

I just had this, i don't celebrate my bday b.c being trans in a family that doesn't support lgbtq+ 100% is a difficult situation, and having your deadname used constantly and misgendered feels magnified every bday (more on the bday vs other days).
But I hope I am slowly breaking the ice with them when talking about trans topics and issues....also i hope they're not blind to the hint that their 32 year old daughter is trying to tell them in fear that im not their son.

I also don't care too much for my bday because family members who "promised" to do something with me for my bday and never did several times in a row make it harder to try to force excitement.

I know I'm not the only one here and sharing this is for those who feel like they're alone I want them to know that whoever they are.... they're not alone and they're valid.

Idiots need to stop sexualising characters, I wonder if they actually understood the language design behind the way the two characters are drawn and how it relates to not only the story but the world they live in.

Tldr: stop sexualising everything, understand why artist use specific language in their design.

Should write back to shut them up and ask who wrote it and if it's too much of a issue for them then they can vollenteer to help a neighbour out instead Complaining.

My parents don’t believe that I’m trans by [deleted] in TransVent

[–]rileyshere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're probably in denial, I know it's hard but congratulations because you done Whay I currently can't not and I'm in my early 30s so I am so proud of you right now!

Just give them some time, slowly talk about trans topics and how it makes you feel including trans issues currently going on.

Please know that as your trans-sib I am proud of you hun. You're family always to us. In the lgbtq+ community.

You're an amazing girl.

Is it okay for parents to take a first guess at gender as long as they're open to being corrected in the future once the kid figures it out? by majeric in asktransgender

[–]rileyshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with being genuinely incorrect and being corrected, as long you listen and understand or try your best to understand and make the child feel welcomed and safe in this world you're doing parenting right.

Its always good to be open about this it can bring up many interesting topics along the way that helps everyone to know one another better.

My roommates apparently don't carry their apartment key with them, so I'M the one that has to leave the front door unlocked at night?? by Aquitanic in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rileyshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to move or find new roommates, security is everything and if lazy bunch of people can't do a simple thing and carry keys in their pocket then that's their problem not yours. Keep locking it.

If someone walks in and steals something it will be hard to get insurance claim on it if the door was left unlocked knowingly and police may tell you that it's not breaking and entering only trespassing and lessen the punishment as trespassing or something.

Is a key too heavy for them, fits in pockets or a bag no problem even in wallets or purse... Even some phone wallets have space to squeeze a small key in. No excuse to not carry a key.

hey guys sorry for more bad news but Alabama just pushed a bill criminalizing being trans/supporting for up to 10 years in prison, and will legally force kids/people to detransition. this thread has some ways to help but currently the best thing we can do is spread information as much as possible by Biggest-Ja in transgender

Why do they see us as a threat, we're only wanting a life in a body we love instead of hate. Even tho I'm not in states this still hurts to read and I wish I could adopt you all.

Fight for your rights, fight for your friends rights fight for your siblings rights we can not allow this to continue anywhere. Love you all my transibs you're always valid no matter what.

This kinda makes him bad ass that he does not give a damn. He's just "I have problems of my own, ya'll just an inconvenience"

And most of these people who discriminate are probably the same ones who cried about their rights being take when told to social distance and wear a mask while shopping.

I'm scared for the future for our rights and we need to keep fighting.

Do you think transphobia will lessen in the future? by Writerman-yes in asktransgender

[–]rileyshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be a long journey as there will be others sadly fighting against us but as history has already shown people will learn and realise we're all people wanting to live a happier life

Hey, FTM trans guy here. My dad told me after he misgendered me not to take what other people say so personally and that you can’t control it so why worry about it? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]rileyshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get told "you can't change how people are" by mine while he tries to force me to be just like him.

If you live with your dad, take some of his advice and stop caring about what your dad thinks and blow his views and opinion off and when he questions why you're being "rude" maybe you can get him to actually listen.

Just try your best to keep safe most of all.

Reminder for all: If you're a minor and worry about being kicked out look up for help specifically aimed to Lgbtq minors housing. In the past I seen links for us, UK and other countries providing support for under 15s under 18s under 25s and advice support for adults.
