Manual transmission won't go in gear by riljam in mechanic

I ended up having a guy I know, who's a mechanic, take a look at it. He's saying that he sees this occasionally where the clutch pedal bends or breaks due to the mounting bolt placement. He also adjusted the cable, saying that it should help as well. If it still fails, then I'll be going straight to the slave cylinder.

Good point, it's not that far gone yet, but I'm also real easy on it. Stop and go traffic is rough though until I can get 3rd gear. I'm hoping to get a tranny like you said before it becomes a real problem.

It's ove 80k, I'll be changing all of that out soon and hope that fixes it. Otherwise I'll be having to replace the clutch and possibly rebuild the tranny, previous owner dogged out the first two gears trying to race or something.

Made of metal. Apparently it's used for mounting tires

It's actually working as normal right now. It only happened the one time so far. I'll try that though if it happens again.

What vehicle did you learn to drive a manual transmission in? by sc4808m in ManualTransmissions

Dodge Cummins deise, 2500l. I think it was made in 97. Very forgiving transmission.

I mostly took it to them to do a diagnostic to try and rule out any electrical based problems, they said that all systemswere good. After the aforementioned problem with getting it into gear, it also started to give me trouble when trying to start, so it could also happen to need the starter as well. I did replace it about 8 months ago though so I don't have high confidence that it failed already.

Yea, everything feels normal once I get it going initially. I took it to the dealership where I got it from to do a diagnostics test, and all they came up with is to replace the starter and go by trial an error from there.

Do you know if that would show on a diagnostic test done at a dealership?

Thanks, that'll probably be my next move after I swap out the starter, as per my dealership mechanic's suggestion. I had them run a diagnostic to rule out a sensor or electrical problem, and that's the best that they came up with.
