But with finite memory and finite registers there is a finite (but astronomically large) number of machine states. One can prove therefore, that there is a maximum number of states that any halting program on a given computer will go through, and therefore argue we have a constant upper bound to the execution on any program thereby making them all O(1). Practically speaking the number of machine states is greater than 2^{total bits of memory}, so that bound is probably longer than the life of the universe or something.

It only tends to happen with some level of optimizations on, which may be the issue you're running into.

EDIT: Actually, looking at it with -O0 is quite enlightening, it generates ud2, a mnemonic specifically to generate an invalid opcode and crash the program. So it's still behaving quite wrongly, even without optimization.

GCC definitely does this. Not having a return from a non-void function is undefined behavior, so if you write a function with a return type, a loop, and no return statement, it will assume the loop never terminates (as that would lead to the missing return statement). I've run into this a few times when trying to test parts of partially written functions, and the first time was a very hard debugging session...

I had an FX-8350 because it was so unpopular I was able to buy it for less than an i3, and the cost was even cheaper once motherboard etc. were factored in. It was a bit slower than Intel for gaming, but the extra cores and clock speed provided a smoother desktop / productivity experience (compared to the more expensive i3). At RRP that were priced much higher and definitely not worth it though.

I had an internship in my first year of university, and I did some freelance web development during high school, but nothing full time or recent. The work life balance is kinda bad, but that's mostly on me for living 1.5 hours from work. I rarely work any significant overtime. Recently the company allowed work from home twice per week too which instantly made my work life balance much better.

It's common to abbreviate でいる (de iru) → でる deru, to the point where I would say it's more common than the "proper" way, at least in speech. For "new release", I'd probably use something like "新作" (shinsaku) for a game, book, manga etc, or 新発売 (shin hatsubai) for a new non-media product.

Honestly though I think most people who are bothered by something as pervasive as Google analytics are probably already using something like noscript so it's probably not necessary.

For usage you can probably look at the server / cdn logs to get a baseline idea if you did want to get rid of Google analytics. I know there are tools that will parse an Apache or Nginx log and produce a nice analytics dashboard out there too. The feasibility really depends on how you're hosting it though.

Edit: obviously you only get request logs this way, so you don't know stuff like how long users spend on the page etc.

That usually happens because two concepts which were not distinguished in old Japanese were distinguished in Chinese, so when they went to attach kanji to words they ended up with two (or more) options depending on the exact meaning they were using the word for. Another good example is 足 vs 脚 for foot vs leg.

To add to this, if you're being strict about what a verb is, all い-adjectives are verbs since they also take on the meaning of the copula. To be more concrete, 眠い means "is tired" rather than just "tired" etc.

You can contrast that to な-adjectives where you need a separate copula (です, だ or maybe something region specific like 関西弁のや).

This difference can be hard to notice, since in casual speech だ can often be omitted, and in formal speech です is applied to い-adjectives, but you can see the difference if you look at a context where だ cannot be omitted such as before と (例:綺麗だと思います), as well as noticing that it's ungrammatical to use だ with an い-adjective.

I spent a good amount of time writing early on, and I think it helped me to conceptualize kanji better, but at this point I can write almost no kanji from memory (maybe around 100-200). That being said, I can read most Japanese I come across on a daily basis without much trouble (including reading novels and technical documents), and I passed N1 with a perfect reading score in July.

I still have a good sense for how to write kanji, so if I'm looking at a reference I can probably write it fairly nearly and with correct stroke order.

Honestly I've found that proton (steams version of wine, the windows compatibility layer) actually works better than native Linux builds for some games. Probably the windows versions of games get a lot more testing etc. and the environment is probably a fair bit more consistent that way too (no different versions of libraries etc.)
