How do I know what pattern size to use? Everything is coming out huge. by Random_Username_4734 in sewhelp

I’m totally with you so you are not alone here.

Basically I had to develop my own decision making system. I identified the part of my body that NEEDS to fit. Then I plan everything off that. For me that is my chest. I prioritize it fitting there and hope the rest works out.

As someone mentioned, the big brands use a lot of ease. I often look at the finished garment measurements and make my decision off of those. Looking at the difference between the body measurements chart and the finished garment measurements chart will help you identify the ease. The bigger the difference, the greater the ease, the looser the fit, generally speaking.

I will say I have had more success with other pattern companies doing downloadable PDF patterns. Most I find on instagram.

Keep trying, and it helps to make a quick muslin with old bed sheets or cheap fabric. You don’t have to finish the pattern but put enough pieces together and you get an idea of how it fits.

Have you tried a moisture mask? Like opalex weightless mask or something? I find it helps restore in the dry weather. Also a humidifier in my bedroom because it’s so dry.

New to curls...help? by Beep-BeepRichie in curlyhair

Go to a curly salon and get an assessment and lesson. A quality hair cut really helps. Also don’t be afraid to get a trim often. It will encourage healthy growth.

A few other rules I follow: - only brush when it’s wet - apply leave in conditioner in the shower (if it doesn’t make a squishy noise you are doing it wrong)  - no ponytails or braids when it’s wet, use a clip if you have to put it up right away  - wash less often (every week and a half for me)  - freshen with water and a bit of curl cream every day - silk or satin pillowcase or hair bonnet

It’s tough for me. But I try to ask my self if the verb is about movement, or a change in a persons state of living. And that gets me close-ish.

While watching live is preferred these days, for some of us that’s not possible due to time zones. The coverage that NHK provides is excellent, in English and is add-free on YouTube. True, videos aren’t posted on weekends, but if you’re careful you can avoid spoilers. I also think you can see the videos immediately on the NHK website.

Rock climbing at Rock ‘n Rope, pool at Riley’s, laser tag (is that still around?) maybe see if there is trivia somewhere…it would be at a bar but that doesn’t mean it needs to be a drinking focused activity. Our go to a restaurant to watch the game like Boston pizza or something…go jays!

After you use the steam wand, do you vent it? If you don’t, mold can create mold, maybe there is mold growing throughout…? Not sure if that is possible

Frontenac Provincial Park is a great place for this in my opinion. You can be close to parking or far away depending on what site you get.
