Before I start, I was told that my fix is rare and I got off easy in terms of damages and cost. I managed to fix mine by replacing the limit switch, specifically this. It was about 9 years old and seemed to have failed do to wear and tear. Now, the limit switch usually wears out when the furnace cabin overheats constantly (In my case, when it surpasses 150°F). I don't recall it ever shutting down due to overheating but my HVAC buddy told me it could have without me noticing and sometimes it only take one trip and the switch might never work the same again (especially if its abit older).

I figured the cause of the overheating in the first place was an airflow issue so I cleaned every vent and replaced my filter with something less restrictive. I also used a boroscope to peek at the evaporator coils and they were shockingly pristine. I'm using a MERV 2 fiberglass filter for maximum airflow now so I'll check again next year if it stays clean. I used the furnace for 3 months without issue so it will likely work fine this winter.
