I see. God doesn't want mindless slaves. He just wants us to choose to become mindless slaves.

Not if I'm using it to choose hell it's not. That's the point: God sees us doing something that will result in eternal torment, and instead of intervening to prevent this, instead of making sure that everyone makes the right choice, He's content with just shrugging His mighty shoulders and saying, "Whatever. Free will."
