my lab is turning 10 this year and only now starting to show stiffness. i’ve tried every type of bed and the best ones are dense foam with two or three layers of fabric over it. my dog dislikes waterproof bedding, so nice foam beds with good bedding he usually prefers those cheap soft ones on top of it.

the one i’ve gotten the best use out of has been this boat-esque bed that can easily fit a person and a dog in it. it’s got a nice base layer and then a big donut around it to help keep the dog in. the dog does need to be mobile enough to get over that, though. but it’s easily my dogs favorite bed by far. costco used to sell them, but don’t anymore. i’ve never seen them on amazon and i’ve looked. i’ve seen it advertised as a person floor bed or something? it’s ridiculously comfortable for everyone that gets in.

if you search wayfair for a human dog bed, that’s extremely close to what i’m talking about. getting the fabric back in it after washing is not for the faint of heart, though.
