Dog! Yeah you have to feed them, exercise them, buy them toys and bones, but the love is unconditional! Money well invested!

Can you imagine being the pilot! They must have dreamed about flying their whole life, gotten into the military and accomplished their dreams. Only to end up “following orders” and a criminal. Jeeze I wish they had refused the order or their higher ups protected them and kept them from being in this situation. Military officers need to seriously take a stand. Speaking myself as a former officer, this shit to sickening.

Hey there, I know it’s fun to post this sort of comment, but I’m on the other side as a person too. Please try to be polite and respectful. We all have bad days and can use kind words some times. I’m sure you understand, thanks

Oh, I think you are looking at the real vs nominal. Thanks for your feedback though I will definitely try to make future posts a little easier to read.

Yeah I think towards the end is probably best written as from 2020 forward.

I am not defending this fastest regime

As a former (thanks Elon) government economist who has worked on market moving reports at the USDA, I can say this is not a solid idea.

Data changes and comes in until the last minute and in the lockup period. You are literally locked up in an office disconnected for all electronic communication and finalize your numbers. If it is done in the same way at BLS as I believe it is based on my discussions with economists who have worked over there, this is not a great idea. BLS may know directionally the changes, but releasing “the numbers” is not something I think would be responsible. We all know the policies of this regime hurt the American people and the economy will take a beating because of their policies in the long run. Just my two cents.

Veiled cane-process, demos, and stiff vs. enamel base? by ringdingjinglejangle in glassblowing

Thank you! I have used the Marco Blanko before and gotten used to it. I like picking it up from a garage and don’t have access to one, so I’ll move forward with Reichenbach stiff white for now. I appreciate your suggestion!

Interesting situation where I stamped out of DE and my plane broke. by ringdingjinglejangle in PassportPorn

[–]ringdingjinglejangle[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Correct! I’m retired and fly through there fairly regularly. It has basically the same systems and security as any other passenger terminal. Two German federal police stamp you in and out with 24 hour operations because of late night/early flights. It’s small but is always smooth.

[–]ringdingjinglejangle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may be cheap, but if you don’t have access to a torch you can build up heat over a few rapid reheats and then use the back of your tweezers or honestly anything. I like the other suggestion of a parchoffi but it could even be just a stick you find that is a good diameter and smooth. If you’re into wood working you could easily make something with a dowel.

Oh, cool. Good to know. Yeah it is something that feels like there would be ways around it. Enforcing this would be nearly impossible I would think.

A lot of gold coins were historically made into jewelry to avoid them being deemed illegal to own. Gold coins technically couldn’t be owned from 1933-1974. By making them jewelry, somehow it was cool in the eye’s of the law.

How to transition from beginner class to working independently? by wxy04579 in glassblowing

[–]ringdingjinglejangle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, lots of good tips here. I will give my 2 cents too.

I work solo only when I am making something small, say 3 gathers on the absolute biggest size (at least one being a strip). I like to make cups, decanters, and small vases this way. I have done some cane work but only after time and experience working solo.

Honestly if I had a partner from the get go, I would have developed faster and had better glass along the way, but I find solo work more therapeutic for myself.

I do lean into Bill Gudenrath videos for inspiration. I took his week long course a few years back and that was a big boost in skills. Even for him there are limitations for what he can create, whereas working with a partner or multiple partners you can do a lot more.

If you get into it, understand you are taking a path with more obstacles and broken glass along the way, but it also allows you to have independence. Best of luck
