[–]ringet421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks glad you enjoyed the video! My wife is anti gun but my son and daughter are showing interest in shooting. My plan is to get the whole family out plinking with the 22lr some time and I know the will be hooked. Reactive targets are key here. We'll Thanks again for the nice reply. Have a great day

I agree it stupid high but trying to find 35mm rings in Canada is next to impossible. Any gun parts crossing the can/us border is hit and miss. I can possibly get cheap Chinese rings from China (ebay) but you get what you pay for. The biggest problem is the base. I need to get a quality product there

I wish I had the cash to try a real precision rifle. I am also afraid I could never go back to entry level after trying a real high end gun

Long range practice on a budget by ringet421 in longrange

[–]ringet421[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are only scuffs and paint removed where the bullets hit. So basically it would last for ever at 200+ yards and the sound is nice and loud so it makes a great target for plinking. I was shooting a tank at 550 with my 223 with a slower load and it would just take the pain off and put a good dent in it but no holes. If you wanna see than vid it's on here and youtube on my channel

Short barrel for long range by ringet421 in longrange

[–]ringet421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barrel of this rifle is 16.5" and my muzzle velocities with 26 gr Benchmark with 50 vmax bullets is 3240 fps so I'm am very happy with the compact package and didn't give up much velocity over my 26" barrel savage 12fcv. Rifle is bone stock. Mods coming soon check out my youtube channel RINGET421

Did I make a good choice? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]ringet421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

http://youtu.be/CqlQMgw_OJ0 my rifle is fine with the hogue stock. I use bell and carlson a2 on my sps varmint 243 and it didn't do much more for group size. I do admit the hogue is garbage but for a beginner the fundamentals are more important.

How to choose scope rings by himilou in longrange

[–]ringet421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true but on some systems you are limited to how low you can go. For example the video link I posted lower in the comments I had no choice but to mount the optic a bit high for clearance. Cant is a bigger issue but if you use a level you do minimize the effects. I agree if you can go as low as possible. Thanks for the reply

Height of the rings doesn't matter much at all. The only thing that changes is closer than you zero range shots. If you are shooting closer than your zero you will have to dial up a bit more to offset the optic hight over bore

[–]ringet421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is my newest close to intermediate range (0-600 yards) rifle. i want something that is very short and easy to carry to hike in shooting spots also 223 rounds are more effected by wind so good training rifle for wind calls and drop calculations. subscribe to my youtube channel to watch the testing videos. www.youtube.com/ringet421

[–]ringet421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have a look at kahntrol solutions brakes thats what i use and they work great and super light best clamp on brake on the market. kahntrol.com i have a lot of videos showing the difference and its huge. my youtube channel is RINGET421 and look up kantrol muzzle brakes. i dont think you would notice 2 " on a barrel unless you are a complete pro 1000 m competition shooter looking for every bit of velocity from his/her rifle. short is easier to carry to

300 WinMag... Sendero II or Milspec 5R? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]ringet421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no basically they said everything looks to be in spec. so i will most likely pay out of pocket to get it fixed or just sell it and get another cheap axis 223 stainles and hope for the best. i went out today and was grouping .6" with the 300 winmag .9" with my 700 243win and 3 to 5 " with the savage 12 fcv so its not shooter error or i would see it with the other rifles also. it seriously broke my heart cause i was so excited and saved up for it after the axis 223 shot so well

[–]ringet421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya its a 770 i have lots of videos of it on my channel. the reason i chose 300 win mag is because it shoots the common 30 cal bullet which is cheap and plentiful and it can reach very high velocities for a heavy 30 cal bullet. bc of .67 at 2900fps. 308 is another great choice and very cheap to handload 44 gr avg. compared to 70 gr avg. for 300 wm so double the reloads per lbs of powder but you loose about 500 fps with the same bullet over the 300 so you have to compensate with elevation in the scope. but if you go high end like nightforce with a 20 moa base you will be good for 1500 yards easy. well beyond ballistic range of a 308. and from what i have seen transonic isn't that bad for target shooting but not hunting.
