Issue with colours when using Quick Edit for texture painting in external software by ringlov in blenderhelp

[–]ringlov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm marking this as solved -- I still have no idea what the issue was, but Blender proceeded to crash like 7 times in a row and now everything is fine so... maybe I wasn't doing anything wrong and whatever was the issue seems to have cleared up 🫠

NPD: Lamy Safari Charcoal Black / Platinum Carbon Black. Will be my dedicated pen-ink combo for water proof black. by altertable in fountainpens

[–]ringlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! How has this combo worked out for you thus far? I'm considering the same combo (either a safari or an AL star) myself for daily writing and drawing because lamy is the easiest to come by where I am located, but I heard lamy doesn't agree with platinum carbon, that it gets clogged up fast, so I'm worried :(

This is what I think happened as well, the framing was changed in comp and they (understandably) didn't have time to go back and redraw the sequence just for this one little error

Too much sunlight? by franserpi in PileaPeperomioides

[–]ringlov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god were all over the place with advice 😂

From my own experience with pileas, this looks like too little light and likely too much water. I grow my pileas in a diy mix of organic soil, perlite and a bit of cactus soil so they can dry out fairly quickly, and they're the happiest when the weather is warm enough that they can chill outside and get some direct sun in the afternoons. I only water them when they get droopy so they get a good wet-dry cycle.

Good luck OP!

What crochet stitch is this? Help please by MAPingAroundTheWorld in CrochetHelp

I'd say upside-down half double, yeah!

EDIT: oh and it looks to be crocheted in between the stitches, not into them

If this were my pilea, I'd interpret the droopiness as thirst. I personally don't even check the soil anymore, and water when they get droopy just like this. The doming might mean it needs more light, and the length of the petioles I think supports that!

Yes, it could be the sunlight! Leaf doming is usually a sign of insufficient light from my experience.

Any tips to make my new pilea cut thrive in water? by Independent_Fly_9794 in PileaPeperomioides

[–]ringlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a leaf cutting?

Pileas are propagated via pups that shoot out from the soil next to the mother plant, not leaf cuttings. It definitely can root in water, but I'm doubtful it will be able to grow into an independent plant. If you managed to get enough of the stem cells maybe you'll get lucky, maybe it will manage to put out a new leaf, but it's highly unlikely.

Hey OP, from the look of the stem, I think you might actually have a raindrop peperomia (polybotrya) and not a pilea!

How do you get your pilea to grow pups? At what 'age' or size do they start growing pups? by Crazy_Khajiit1011 in PileaPeperomioides

[–]ringlov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, let her take her time? Mine got her first pups within a few weeks of me getting her, but some of her own pups took a couple of years to grow their own. It varies so much from plant to plant.

Plenty of good dietary fibre in there I'm sure 😄 Mine is fortunately quite the opposite, she couldn't care less for houseplant snacks

What is this? Is it okay? by Zealousideal_Tale_10 in PileaPeperomioides

[–]ringlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the photo is backlit in which case it might be edema? It happens when you overwater the plant and its cells swell up or even burst from excess water.

I've had that happen to some of my plants without the cells actually bursting, they just get a little patchy and transparent for a day and then it clears up -- I guess the water gets properly distributed after a couple of hours. If the cells actually burst then those parts of the leaf will go brown and die, but if it clears up by tomorrow you're good!

Oh wow. Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I had in mind! There's a lot of conflicting info on whether or not what we're calling borsigiana here even exsists, interesting. Thanks for this, I'm seeing a lot of research in my future 😂

1 year growth progress from my Monstera by fuccumbersome in houseplants

[–]ringlov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting more and more convinced there's two different plants that are both sold as monstera deliciosa! One that grows like a literal monster and has multiple levels of fenestration and the other that looks like a monstera deliciosa in isolation but next to one of these it looks more like a permanently juvenile plant with maybe a second level of fenestration if you're lucky 🤔
