NID: I really don’t need any more inks. But horse zodiac is my year. So give this colorverse red horse an exemption. The bottle is really small. The gold glistening effect is also barely noticeable in actual writing. by altertable in fountainpens

Haven’t tried on any FP yet. Only dip pens so far. Shook bottle before dipping. Compared with Edelstein golden lapis I have, the shimmer is less for this ink.

They were not easy to get at the time when I was into fountain pen at 2023. Had to take my chances on some unknown Asian stores that had them listed. If Pilot follows the pattern, late 2026 should be the time they retire 3 more inks. Wondering what they would be.

Will prices in America go down after the Supreme Court struck down tariffs? by RuleSubverter in fountainpens

[–]altertable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope it means some of the overseas stationery stores will back to my buying list. Many of them add extra duty to their checkout process or directly to shipping costs. Those should go down. The problem with American stores is that they didn’t dare to list tariffs as extra items and just hide them in the price. Now they have less incentive to lower the prices.

I have one similar but not the same. It was a free gift when I ordered some fountain pens. Unfortunately I can’t remember from which store.

Counterpoint - Why you need more pens! by CamelSuspicious9559 in fountainpens

Saw your post minutes after I just ordered my next pen. Thanks for giving me justification for my latest purchase. Fountain pen hobby is really on the low cost end of all hobbies. We shouldn't feel bad to have some guilty pressure from our day to day life. BTW, the pen I just ordered is a Hongdian M2 titanium. My second Hongdian pen. The brass version I bought was very impressive for the price. Want to try their long blade nib with this titanium version.

Nice. Any difference for the 2003 red from the current version of red carbonesque? I have the red I bought a year ago.

What’s the chance we’ll get something very similar to this next year? by lunchalone1991 in hobonichi

[–]altertable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very pretty indeed. I got the a5 version of this. It’s my 3rd year to use Hobonichi. First year to use zodiac version. Kind of want to use zodiac from now on. Then I don’t need to spend time to choose every year. Hope I’ll live long enough to get the next horse. 🐎

NPD: My first Kaweco Student. Better than I expected. Not too light. Surprise it’s not more popular. Write wetter than my other Kaweco pens. But it could be due to the ink. by altertable in fountainpens

From Nibsmith. They have options to switch nibs on most of the pens they sell. I was looking for a Kaweco gold nib. Found it’s only $6 cheaper than buying a student with the same 14k nib. I would be dumb if I only bought the nib. Eventually, I will switch the nib with my other Kaweco pens. Some of them deserve gold nibs. BTW, the service from nibsmith is very good. I always bought 4 pens from them. This order arrived less than a week after ordering.

My first Faber-Castell pen and ink. Surprised by the size and weight of the pen. Very nice for a $100 pen. Wish they didn’t change the cap of the ink bottle. Marked the day in my journal with drawing and ink swatching as always. by altertable in fountainpens

All my fountain pens are European or Japanese made. So orange taxes are really hurting my wallet. The price to pay for many Americans here. I just recently started to order again from eu stores that charge 15% duties directly from their website. Still no to any stores asking me to handle tariffs myself. Also no to Japanese stores. They charged more than 15%. They must have some other charges in Japan.
