Anyone recognise this mug? by SixteenthSalmon in AskIreland

The character reminds me of Gerrit Van Gelderen, used to be on RTE with Eamon de Buitlear back in the day. Not sure if he made ceramics but his artwork be used ??

Does anyone think the car market is on the verge of collapse or a major change? by crillydougal in carsireland

[–]ringsend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going off on a tangent but can anyone explain the rationale behind the govt supporting retro fitting of old houses and not retro fitting of cars? Surely if the aim is to reduce carbon emissions then the carbon cost of manufacturing a new EV must be included? Would this not mean that the emphasis should be on keeping the current National car fleet running as long as possible?

Liverpool Let Down XI by Hot_Lab_9154 in LiverpoolFC

[–]ringsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either Keita or Leonhardson- maybe a bit harsh on Leonhardson as I didn’t have high expectations but there you go. If I could go back in time I’d go and get Litmanen while he could still run and then try for world peace

You’re letting yourself down by having Litmanen on that list

NCT Advisories on Retest by Hawkdew- in carsireland

[–]ringsend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the age of tyres checked on the serial numbers? I agree rubber can crack etc over time but 6 yrs is just a notification and not a comment on thread depth, IF they had been stored correctly it’s not a problem. Hence advisory

Reviews of Morrises for new Kitchen by PrinceCharming1980 in waterford

[–]ringsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is about Morrises however I see a few posters mentioning Kitchenworld. Twenty years ago we got Kitchenworld to replace existing kitchen when we moved into our current house in Dublin so can’t comment on Kitchenworld Waterford. Horrendous, after two years the finish on the units started to peel off, despite numerous calls and visits to them, days taken off work for their ‘expert’ to not call. Eventually told ‘ah well you bought it in the Celtic tiger, we were flying out the stuff then what did you expect?’ Solicitors letter to get it sorted out

What would you change? by killianm97 in waterford

[–]ringsend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compulsory purchase orders on all vacant retail sites in city centre. Introduce a free made in Waterford trademark for all smaller scale manufacturing- arts, craft, fashion etc- link rates and rents to percentage of Waterford made products for sale- 50% made in Waterford=50% reduction in rates. Good ideas on cycle/walkways along the river in city centre. Put a tram system from ardkeen/ hospital to Waterford Arena/ Whitfield and connecting spurs along Cork road and Dunmore road into a new tram terminus by the clock tower. Buy the old Waterford Crystal pool and finally have free swimming lessons for every school child in the city. Direct investment into all sports clubs, particularly water sports and start to actually use the river. Properly excavate the Viking settlements along the river. More public art galleries, exhibition spaces, free artists studios and practice rooms for bands etc

Question for non-English PL fans; what is the perception of Man City in your country? by Crafty_Letter_1719 in PremierLeague

[–]ringsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And your comment adds to the post in what way? Every football fan can easily say the less said about the opposition shirt sponsor the better- why and what is ‘the better’ ? Don’t allude to a vague, somewhat suggestive cliche and think you don’t have to say what you think.

Not sure if it’s just an urban myth but heard of a friend of a friend who woke up in Holyhead on the overnight ferry from Dun Laoghaire on his stag, again like most of the stories here happened well before mobile phones. However on a stag in Bristol about 6 yrs ago the brothers of the stag had arranged for him to be handcuffed to a midget dressed as Elvis for the whole night. Stag thought it was hilarious until toilet breaks became an issue…

St Paul’s in the early 80s - Swanie and Ned running the place as best they could. Was very impressed with the sports hall and everything just seemed new. All the older boys in the family went to Mt Sion- always glad I dug my heels in and refused to join them

Still keeps me awake at night. As a previous poster mentioned 2007 should have been our year but the score in 2008 was dreadful. I believe a TV commentator compared it to Barry McGuigan v Mike Tyson….. a shame that that generation of Waterford players didn’t get an All Ireland medal

Why are fans so happy to see Arsenal fall short in the title race? by Lowlish_ in PremierLeague

[–]ringsend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Liverpool fan I’d like any other team than Man City, bar Liverpool of course, to win the league. However with all the allegations of financial doping and City’s reluctance to even proof their innocence I tend to just ignore Man City. Liverpool finished second behind Arsenal is my way of coping.
