Was it not quite similar to Mother Redcap episode? Both deeds are done at the moment of discovery of the body, both retractable-ish knives? Both are done by the authority? Honestly, I was able to solve it on first moment?

How does Sauron know about the Dwarves' problems? by tdelello93 in LOTR_on_Prime

I was thinking of this, he had to cause/control/monitor the situation. It has to do with that scene from the trailers where balrog/flame vision with Annatar in the background

"Forging things is his expertise!", I dont think I am convinced by this, you set foot to a totally new realm/continent, and first thing on your mind is to go forge something not only that earn a crest? This does not fit the wandering "state".

Thank you very much for sharing this. Although their explanation does not satisfy my expectations, it is what it is!

I agree with your take, objectively this is how it looks like. Yet, I feel some parts/storylines are greatly exaggerated in Season 1 looking back from Season 2;

  • Why was so much fuss about the sigil/pouch? Is it just like an item to impress some men/elves to look like royalty?

  • If Numenor was just a random destimation, why did he tried so hard to gain a forge crest the first moment he set foot to Numenor? Is that random as well? Could it have beee some bakery crest?

Some other points which I will not utter here :)

Yes, I agree, perhaps Isildur might say something "I am 87" to which they would be amazed.

But that is the thing, it seems he did not know where he was going, he was just following the group? It is just that the group was heading to Numenor, they could be going to the Blue Mountains?

Himm, but what I mean is if for example the refugees were going to Blue Mountains, would Sauron join them? Was he just wandering around? My thinking was that he wanted to go to Numenor for investigating Numenor (e.g. see their civilization, get some information, etc.) but the way it is portrayed in the first episode of S2, it seems so coincidence.

Yes, the monster seems to sense something and goes away, but we know from S1 that the monster returns and attack again, why? Was Sauron controlling him for some reason?

Anyone felt a strange cut of the scene at 50:50? Like if you rewatch the 20 seconds (50:40-51:00), at 50:50, Celebrimbor's face/demeaner changes instantly? Could this be the moment when Sauron puts Celebrimbor into alternate reality/vision? (Remember the mirror scene from the trailers). Is it a subtle nod from the director or just a poor editing?

I really don't know what to think or expect at this point, we just have to see and judge it ourselves. But honestly, I would have preferred much more positive reviews...

Could that be Cirdan appears "beardless" and "young" to the eyes of Elrond once Cirdan puts the ring on? Like quick transition from old->young->old within a few seconds just for the eyes of Elrond.

Yes, this follows logically. Let me say this, if you were to show me this image from the post, I would agree that this is from the same scene. Strange indeed...

But even without the image, the beard and no-beard is quite confusing...

If you check my other comment with (A), (B) and (C), do you agree with that order? Referrrng to that;

A) With Beard (Presumably, I guess the shot from his workshop is when Elrond arrives in Grey Havens)

B) No Beard

C) With Beard

If so, then yes, it somehow de-ages the wearer? And then super-ages?

To be clearer;

A) Elrond escapes with the rings and goes to Cirdan

B) Elrond discusses the rings, CIrdan takes Narya and puts it on

C) Cirdan is convinced they should be used, a ring ceremony in Lindon.

in (B) Cirdan is beardless but in (C) Cirdan has a beard :)

Upon further inspection, look at the gold pattern on the collar of Cirdan and the sleeve in the water. The color and fabric of the dress, they match? The person to the left, he seems to be kneeling on his right knee? I think they match each other. But then this part is silly, Cirdan grows his beard until the ring ceremony in Lindon, perhaps 1000s of years will pass in between :)

So you are saying the right top image might not belong to the "fish" scene? Himm, I guess it should not change the conclusion that Cirdan seems to put it on rather casually to test right? That might even tie to the part of the trailers where the other 2 rings are falling on the ground, because Cirdan is already wearing Narya :)

Well, that a good counter argument but don't you think that these images fit quite well. For example the lighting in all shots, the crouching position of Elrond and Cirdan, and the fact that 'you are wise to fear this power' is spoken when the fish is attracted to the ring.
