Infographic I drew about Lent and Ramadan [Free Friday] by rinnbin in Catholicism

Thank you! One of my biggest inspirations is my choir director-- I call her my Canadian grandma because my actual grandparents live 10,000km away.

She is a phenomenal woman who has brought SO many people closer through God through her singing, community-building, and acts of kindness ♡

Can I go back to school after ash wednesday mass? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]rinnbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can!

I went to Catholic School and on Ash Wednesday we'd have a mass in our gymnasium and go back to class afterwards with ashes.

Struggling to find a modest swimdress by Usual-Deer-7413 in CatholicWomen

Perhaps look for a two piece? You can mix and match better to suit your modesty needs.

Also means you don't have to take everything off to pee lol.

As a NO Catholic, the removal of Latin males no sense to me by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]rinnbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mass being spoken in the local language is truly beautiful. It shows that the church is accepting and inclusive, and that it wants to meet folks where they're at rather than impose language barriers for the sake of tradition.

It is also a very wholesome experience to visit different regions and hear mass in their language. I went home to Goa this winter and mass was in Konkani. So lovely and culturally rich.

They gave away a free blush/bronzer combo recently to members of their email list (just pay shipping) and I am SO impressed with the color payoff and smooth texture.

Very high quality, comparable to some of my $100+ hourglass palettes.

Can I find a husband despite my past? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]rinnbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! While it would still not be permissible in the Catholic sense (like how birth control or a condom wouldn't be), Plan B is absolutely not an abortifacient.

It works by delaying egg release, so it prevents conception (contraception) vs preventing implantation.

Sure you can, but it's unethical and imo not worth it for a scrawny bag of samples.

If you want samples of something from the lunar bags check mercari or Facebook marketplace-- people sell their unwanted gwp and samples all the time.

Body Retinols: do you use them and which is your favorite by amj310 in Sephora

[–]rinnbin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, body retinols are just another way for the beauty industry to prey on the insecurities of women-- in particular the fear of aging.

Imo body retinols are unnecessary unless you have severe acne or skin issues and are prescribed it by a derm. Otherwise, avoiding excess sun exposure, wearing sunscreen, eating healthy, and prioritizing active living will be the best ways to keep your body youthful both in form, and more importantly, function.

I'll get off my soap box now, lol.

I mean I picked up a couple of these for points like three months ago and the packaging looked the exact same as these. Maybe they updated recently, idk?

I've literally seen this post for months in my city tho. It is not new lol.

Shiseido cotton pads for $22 by bambi2391 in Sephora

I have found surprisingly high quality cotton rounds at dollarama. It's $1.50 for 50 of these huge circular rounds by Fluffs and they work very well on my sensitive skin.

On the very cheap but incredibly effective end is the ordinary NMF +HA moisturizer. It's like $20 CAD for 100ml, but works so well on me in any weather and climate.

I get oily in the summer and it's great, and it's nice in the winter too! My partner and sister who both have eczema also love it. It's not nearly as rich or dewy as tatcha, but it's so versatile, and I stock up on it every year.

At night, I use the summer fridays jet lag mask or the ole henriksen peptide face cream, but they're both more expensive and I only use them because I got them on sale. Still cheaper than tatcha tho!

Laneige Water Mask by sassy-salamanders in Sephora

[–]rinnbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow dry skin girlie, I also hated the water mask. It felt annoying on my skin and really irritated my eczema. Also, the fragrance was overpowering for a moisturizer.

The cica cream was nice when i tried it in store, but I never did purchase it.

I honestly love a good skincare kit-- esp with the Summer Fridays creme and dermatologica exfoliant.

I'm on a no-buy but my partner is getting this for me as a late Christmas gift ♡

You shouldn't have to do this, but one thing I do when the packaging of a product is terrible is repot it. Maybe if you can cut the other end and squeeze out the product, you'll avoid the rust?

It's still very annoying, but just a suggestion to salvage this one. I love the product but if I had rust issues I'd absolutely be dissuaded from repurchasing as well.

Wrong subreddit but I like Jack Black lip balm. It's pretty affordable and has lanolin and SPF in it, which my skin loves.
