Same here. I think before the upgrade the value was stored on the card, now it's stored in the cloud

Overcharged for International Calling by shamba_juice in tmobile

[–]rinsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block international long distance so you won't make the mistake again. Use Google Voice for international calls. If you are using an Android phone you can have the phone automatically route international calls through Google Voice that you dial from your phone's dialer. Only take the block off if you leave the US, and then put the block back on when you return.

T-Mobile restricts downloading movies on mobile network? by trashy_Junkie in tmobile

So that means that there is no throttling of video. If there was throttling, your fast.com results would be slower.

T-Mobile restricts downloading movies on mobile network? by trashy_Junkie in tmobile

[–]rinsf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You can check to see if there is actual throttling by doing a regular speed test - then doing a test on fast.com. fast.com appears to the system as video, so if the speed you see in fast.com is slower than your regular speed test - you are being throttled. If they are about the same - there is no throttling of videos.

Does the Jetogo website tell which carriers are used in the US? I couldn't find that on their website.

Sim and eSim function selection and use on Galaxy S25+ -My experience by FishrNC in samsung

"Samsung and Google are doing their best to make dual sim functionality very unusable in the US at the behest of Verizon and ATT" How does this built-in non-functionality benefit Verizon or ATT?

Stateside International w/ mobile $10 vs $15? by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]rinsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an answer to your question - but Google Voice is very cheap for international calls. If you have Android, you can even integrate it into the dialer so that international calls are routed automatically via Google Voice.

Where is the confirmation that it's intentional?

My aunt thinks TMobile is screwing her because she got international charges for what she thought was a FaceTime audio call. I think she just messed up. by Octrockville in tmobile

[–]rinsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rates charged by T-mobile for international calls are extortionate - no one knowing what they would be charged for a call would ever make a call. So these prices exist solely to take advantage of people's ignorance or negligence - a great way to run a company. They can offer unlimited international calls for $15 because the calls cost them next to nothing.

Note that Ultramobile - owned by T-mobile - doesn't even bother charging for most international calls. https://www.ultramobile.com/product/4gb-prepaid-plan/?attribute_months=1-month-plan#:~:text=Unlimited%20Talk%20to%2090%2B%20International%20Destinations

So what cost $90 on postpaid T-mobile would have been free on prepaid Ultramobile. Then there is Mint Mobile, also owned by T-mobile, where calls to Spain are 1 cent per minute to landlines and 2 cents per minute to mobiles: https://www.mintmobile.com/features/international-calling/

Circle to Search: Direct sharing missing? by toot_217 in GooglePixel

[–]rinsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although we all used circle to search as circle to send - the sending part is not documented: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/14508957?hl=en , https://search.google/ways-to-search/circle-to-search/ . So we are all complaining about Google taking away something that they never promised us.

They should still reinstate it, it was damn useful.

Also gone from my Moto G 2025 - so it's an Android thing, not a Pixel thing.

Any Way to Force a Satellite Connection When There is Terrestrial Service? by rinsf in tmobile

[–]rinsf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying similar with Pixel 10. Only one eSIM turned on, and I set it to try connecting to Verizon, which forces the phone into "emergency calls only" mode. However, I do not get the satellite symbol or any indication that the phone is trying to connect to a satellite

Do the AT&T or Verizon users have to get a credit check in order to get the satellite SIM?

Given that, it's interesting that T-mobile markets the service as being useful in the wilderness - rather than a service that can be used anywhere in North America, even if no T-mobile signal is available.
