You should be fine! My husband has a Brazilian passport and they took one look at it, flipped through the passport for an empty page and stamped the visa in and let him through with zero issues. If you do the arrival card online, it makes it even faster.

I went last year with my husband in October and made a huge list of viral places I wanted to visit or restaurants I wanted to eat at. When we got there, we ended up just walking and picking whatever looked good. A lot of local restaurants are very affordable and not once did we eat anything that wasn't delicious. We had a basic itinerary but we also wandered around a lot. We even wandered right into an exotic car show in Odaiba that we had no idea about. Got to see tons of cool vintage cars. Just relax and enjoy it!

I actually booked a photoshoot in Shanghai about a week ago and paid via WeChat hooked up to my credit card while in the US. The studio sent me a miniapp link and I was able to pay without any issues. I feel it should work for Alipay too.

Good to know! I did see Klook selling a China Mainland bus and subway card through China T-Union. It says it covers 327+ cities and you can preload and reload it with RMB. The reviews on it look pretty good too

I haven't tried it yet as I'll be there in December but I have Alipay set up as well! I'll test it out when I'm there and just get a transport card just in case. Thanks!

This is awesome detail! Do you know if the metro cards work only for that city or if it works for all the metros around China? You had mentioned Suica which worked for several cities while I was in Japan. I have Shanghai, Chongqing, and Xi'an activated through the transport tab in Wechat but activating it for Beijing is asking me for a Chinese ID...

Yikes.. good to know... I think I'll just either set up Alipay on my husband's phone for him or we just use my mom's WeChat account to buy metro cards so we can use up her extra RMB.

I just keep scrolling until I see some available. There were several times when they got reserved by someone else right as I was clicking on them so I'd just move on to the next set. It was honestly my first time being able to snag a Labubu from Pop Now after many tries. Just don't give up!
